We loved Gold Lakes 4x4 campgrounds. Located in the Sierra Buttes along Gold Lake Hwy off Hwy 49. You definitely need high clearance and obviously 4 wheel drive. Campsites are free and first come first serve. Camp spot was feet from the lake.

Myself and a few friends are heading to Downieville and Poker Flat this weekend 5/5. Has anyone been and know the current trail conditions? Or other near by places to explore? Some rigs have gone the past 2 weeks and have gradually made it further but not more than 6-8 miles. Thanks!
