After doing the viper cut, installing a winch and bumper on my T4R, I had no place for a front license plate. Sadly CA requires this so I finally re-installed in a relatively creative spot. No reason to give the highway patrol a reason to pull me over…
I am mid stream in an electrical project on the T4R. Installed a cargo deck. Assembled a removable board with a 100ah Battle Born battery and inverter. Also pulled 4awg wire through the firewall. Will install the rest when my 50ah DCDC charger arrives.
I’ve started to design an aux battery system for my 5th Gen 4Runner. As with most of my projects, I’ve designed it, redesigned it, and designed it again. Here is where I have landed:
- 100ah Battle Born Battery
- Victron Orion XS 50ah DCDC charger
- Victron Smart Shunt 500a
- Victron Distributor...
Just picked up the truck after a handful of items. The most substantial change was a re-gear. I went from the factory 3.73 to 4.56. It drives like a new truck.
A while back I went to 285/70/17s, up from the pen 265/70/17s. The OEM tires were 31.65”. My 285s were K02s, so the were 32.7”. It...
+1 for ham radio. I bring my HF radio and a potable antenna. Being able to get up onto an area with better RF propagation and a super low RF noise floor is a lot of fun.
My build has been underway for almost two years. I am super happy with most all of the components. So far:
- Nguyen Works - low profile rear bumper
- Rago Fabrication low pro front bumper with viper cut and a Warn Zeon winch
- icon stage 7 suspension, Eibach leveling kit
Those are the bigger...
Shutdown plans are updated every couple of years. USFS, NPS, and BLM have their own policies. Each administration has an opportunity to take a different posture related to closure.
It is great that congress has passed a continuing resolution.
See you on the trail.
I swapped TPMS from one set of rims to another. A BeadBuster XB-455 made this super easy. After breaking and re-seating the beads on 8 tires I am feeling much more confident for tire repairs on the trail.
I had no idea that this was possible. This post inspired me to embark on a diy version. I’ve purchased a bead-buster tool, an extra TPMS, and a bi-directional OBD tool to reprogram the ECU. The downside is that I’ve spent more on tools than you paid the dealer. The upside, assuming that the...
Just ordered an Eibach load leveling system for my ‘22 4Runner. After finishing my build, l discovered a slight lean. I’ll report back after the install.
Yesterday the 4Runner got fresh fluids - transmission, front/rear diffs, and transfer case. I also spent time ensuring that nuts and bolts were tight all the way around.
Not very exciting, but great for reliability, longevity and piece of mind.
I recently enjoyed dispersed camping up Trail Canyon. It is off of the north end of Westside Road. Great views across toward Artist’s Pallet. Easy to do in your rig. Just be sure that you are at least a mile or more up from Westside Rd.
