Reno area is lite. Idaho area has more. The rest is without a doubt true.

Trails offroad is stupid easy and has more trails. Also far easier to download states. Easier to create routes and look at existing routes. https://www.trailsoffroad.com/

Phone applications which record GPX tracks, which can then be exported?

Checkout Trails offroad You can create routes, record routes and also view trails that others have done. You can download entire states for offline use, not just little squares. It's only 39.99 a year for everything. https://www.trailsoffroad.com/

Garmin ecosystem thoughts.... or stamdalone devices?

Active satellite connection just means the device has to be able to reach the satellites. It won’t work in a steel building and I doubt it would work in the basement of a building. No subscription other than the inReach subscription. Regarding the new phones, the ability to press the SOS button...

    Navigators

I’m not sure if Gaia shows private property lines or not but that’s my biggest issue. Garmin Tread shows property lines There’s nothing worse than doing a long trip and driving up to a locked gate. I think it’s complete BS that they can shut it down like this, the road should remain passable...

Garmin ecosystem thoughts.... or stamdalone devices?

Explore really shouldn’t be missing this section that tread has. I have yet to run this trail but by looking at satellite images, it does look like it continues and connects where’s Explore shows it ending in the trees.

App is useless if you open it with no service

Someone somewhere said the app has to be open before you lose reception. I had this area downloaded prior to heading out, I just didn’t have the app open until I got there.
