I bought my 2005 4Runner with spacers already in place. Don't know when they were added but the truck is at 225K, about 80K of which I have driven. Haven't driven it without, but I can't say I've seen any downside.
A lot of good build extras if you like the way it is built out, but if the foundation is not good, you're screwed. Is there any maintenance history before the current owner bought it?
