Definitely getting some ATs. My truck gets a lot of use on the highway. It's going to see a lot of the west this spring. Thanks for the input, I'm looking at them now
My wife sent me a video of a dish being cooked, honey bbq chicken breasts done in an iron skillet. What's the most extravagant dish you've made up on the trail? Mine was chicken and potatoes with garlic in foil over the fire during a date with my now wife.
I've been in long enough to have driven and worked on the old one ton Chevys the army had in the 90s lol. Dirt everyday on motor trend built a couple of them. I'm looking forward to much easier travels in my Avalanche. Thank you for your support!
That's basically what'll happen to this one. It'll go home to be coded out due to age and miles plus the new one has a different suspension set up that gives it a 4 inch lift and ABS
This rig has been my ride for nearly a year while deployed. I wish I could find one reasonable on govplanet. Drawers for tools, plasma cutter, cutting torch, welder, electric air compressor AC and it even has a turbo. It's a bit stiff if the seats and suspension lol
Hello, and welcome to Florida. Florida is one of those states that around some of the national parks they have trails that you can drive on and get out into the woods. The Northwestern part has quite a few places lost in the woods where small towns used to be, not much left but some foundations...
That's what I'm trying to do. Keep it nearly stock except for ground clearance. Did you get one of those avalanche tents for the back? I was looking for that shell they made for them years ago but can't seem to find one.
While deployed I found these in a dumpster, about 50 of them. They are a spare winch cable and carrier with an additional pike you put in the ground when you don't have a rock, tree or buddy. There is a part # that I'm going to cross reference to see if they are available to the public. There's...
Definitely a newb question but some places don't have cell service and buddies to help pull you out aren't available. I found a couple CB radios on ebay that might do the job but what's everyone else use?
I am glad I joined. The map locations for all the camping, trails, views is way better than hitting google for everything. And I mean the pictures shared as well of all the wonderful places that people are going is definitely a benefit as I'm living vicariously through them while deployed and...
This question is probably asked a lot, tires. I'm more about them lasting for awhile. Off road terrain can be pretty harsh on tires and I'll be spending a lot of time off the highway. My Avalanche only has a 3 inch lift so I'm not looking to put too awful big on it, just functional
