Yeah that is what I found - it wasn't the Hitchgate per se, it was really the hitch that it was mounted in, that I was dragging in steep v-shaped ditches.
You reminded me of the other reason I left them empty. I was living in San Francisco and figured that a full gas tank was an invitation to...
I had my Wilco and double rotopax carrier on a Forrester XT as well!! Don't get me wrong, it served its purpose (inexpensive rear full size spare mount + fuel) without me resorting to either mounting the gas on the roof (raising the center of gravity of the vehicle vertically) or going with a...
^^ Nailed it.
I had rotopax and found them to be not enough fuel (I had 2 mounted on a Wilco Off-road Hitchgate tire carrier) and then the mounting plate threaded bolt bent and the cans themselves warp all out of shape. I ditched them all, got rid of the Wilco, and went to Wavian Jerry cans...
Hey all, first and foremost I'd like to thank this community for sharing so many lessons and stories and the OB team for creating this group in the first place. The OB community was a part of what inspired me to get out there in the first place and this past fall, I decided to build up a third...
I've also built a route in the app and then asked it to download (up to 5) layers along that route.
In that case I noticed I had asked for so much data that it took a long time and it never quite all finished so when I got to the location, some of my layers were complete and others weren't...
I've had that happen myself until I sorted it out.
1) You mention that you're premium. I'd ensure that you're actually logged into a paid up premium account
2) in Map sources at the bottom of the maps list is a Premium setting for "Layered Maps"
3) make sure that you have all your map layers...
IPad Pro (10.5") 512GB with Gaia GPS Premium, Earthmate (connected via bluetooth to my Garmin InReach Mini communicator). Also use Google maps (offline), and Ultimate CG (Ultimate US Public Campground project). Just used it on a 2 week 2000 mile tour of SoCal deserts and was a great combination.
I've had this Hitchgate on two vehicles so far and it has been awesome. Mounted it on my Subaru Forrester and then on my 4Runner.
NOTE: There is a slight bend in it as I hooked it on a tree stump one time but it's fully functional.

This is my 2nd FrontRunner Outfitters rack. I love them! I'm switching vehicles and I'd rather sell it to somebody who needs it than have the dealer strip it off the truck and toss it (which is what they'll do.) I had the rack professionally installed at Rack-n-Road in San Rafael and they will...
I'm offering this first to Overland Bound members as I think they will appreciate the vehicle more than a dealer or a random eBay / Autotrader buyer.
WHOLE VEHICLE - not parting it out.

I have a brand new, never used ARB Bushranger exhaust powered X-Jack to give away to a good home. I switched my jack system and no longer need this one. They are about $250 new. I just want it to go to a good home. Will ship within the continental US or it can be picked up from me here in San...
Thanks for doing the actual cancellation. I was still wrestling with my schedule so it's good to know that you've decided to postpone / cancel the trip. Appreciate the follow-through.
Jared, are you thinking of a planned route? Or is this more of a play-in-the-mud-and-sand type of day? Also, I see that you noted 4WD, Lift, Armor, however I'm driving a stock Subaru Forester and looking to get out and see what it can do. If you're planning a rock-crawling route, I'll pass. If...
