Picked up an army surplus vehicle crew tent. A little heavy at 90lbs with everything but sub freezing is no issue. Extremely well insulated and has a loft that will hold at least 2 or 3 FULL packs. Plenty room for 3 full grown men and a German shepherd with extra space in the middle. 2 doors 2...
Think of the rare washing experiences though. Foot on the tire and hand on the handle. No more slipping on a slick hood trying to clean the windshield. Heck somthing can always be functional even if it's just to make a job easier lol

5.11 high tops. Waterproof, light, and plenty of options for lighter duty. I've worn these things for the past year and they still have plenty of life.
Side note, they've never given a blister even during break in.

Considering I wouldn't mind getting into a little desert running the ifs seems to be the best way for me so far. Thanks for all of your input guys, it's nice having different opinions to weigh against what I've learned

On the way back home from Colorado atm. Batt install will probably be bed mount. I'll be starting that when I get home with pics

Some of the kits do include longer HD cv axles and a few companies sell them aftermarket. I think I will probably end up with the LT setup as I like the wider stance and tend to have a heavy foot through rough patches. I think experience In the fab dept will also keep me in LT. Easier install...
Have a 2011 tacoma 4x4 and would like a little feedback from people that know more than I. I keep tearing up cv axles and ball joints almost every trip I take and I'm thinking about going heavier duty. I don't do too much rock crawling but hit alot of off camber spots and high water crossings...
I've got a coleman yarborough pass fast pitch I picked up for around 85 bucks at Academy. Seems more of a three season tent but we've been sleeping in snow the past week with very little issue. It holds heat pretty well and is definitely waterproof. Says it's rated for six people. I've got three...
I'll definitely let you know when we head up that way. Not sure if we're going as far north as ft Collins though. Was planning on turning west at pueblo and making it through to silverton

I'm going to be heading to colorado in about two weeks. Looking for any nice spots you all have found. Coming up through the front range. I'd like to find places with water sources or landmarks (caves, mines, waterfalls, etc) thanks a bunch. Gps or a wheresabout location are great.

Not a bad idea. I've got one ready and another truck I could modify a bit to work. Worst case scenario a fleet would come later. And I use that term loosely. Maybe 4 or 5 total vehicles

I think your right. I'm going to be bringing a decent camera with me next time I go out so I'll take video and see if I can splice somthing together giving a bit of a taste of what we do. The scenery would be more than enough to entice some people.

So I've kind of been knocking around the idea of starting a small part time business for overland/survival minded people. What we do as over landers definitely overlaps into the survival aspect. I'd like a second opinion of how well yall think it would work. Say once or twice a month take say...
42" light bar up front, 17" static side bars with 6" directional bars, 12" on the rear. All wired individually through the roof. I installed the switches in the ohc for convenience. Cobra cb radio as well as a handheld shortwave for emergency communication. 10 extra gallons of water and gas via...
