My lease ended with my '19 JLUR I traded it for a '22 JLUR 4xe. I couldn't be happier. I have spare power, torque, and HP for towing the trailer and gear. Plus there is a redundancy factor with having 2 power sources. I think hybrid offers the best of both worlds. Hopefully battery and solar...
I am using the Rich Solar 30a MPPT charge controller (rebranded Renogy) with 2 Zamp 90 panels for the past 3 years. It keeps the trailer running and has a BT addon that works great. The application is a is great keeps history and updates fast. Only minus is that you have to manually connect to...
We were actually bias loading behind the axle to offset the tongue weight. But with the extension we load above it. Found another use for my physics textbook.
For those with a swing gate I had the tongue lengthened 24". My only regret was that I didn't do this earlier. Bonuses are the tongue weight went down, being a little longer makes the trailer ride better, and less finnicky when backing up.
Most recent campground trip. Solar kept up during the day, but at night we needed shore power for the heater due to sub freezing temps and lil kids. Winds in the teens gusting to the twenties glad to have pole weights and the stakes in.
Welcome John. Considering the short list of 6+ passenger 4wd vehicles and that you plan to go off-road, sort by the best ground clearance. I once heard lift is like RAM. Get the most you can afford. So if a stock vehicle already has some clearance you can go right to tires. Unfortunately 7...
Build update: Added a second RhinoRack batwing to the driver's side to provide 360 coverage. Also picked up 180w of solar from Zamp, but due to weather install will be in the Spring. They are not budget oriented, but they are only 3/4" thick, rigid, and light. 2nd image was borrowed till the...
Charcoal. Matches the Jeep, but that was coincidental. Seems to be the most popular colour for the Intech Flyer line cause they anticipated that choice.
I fly it all over KC. I think it would also be a good way to support a homebuilt company. A trail flag, either way, is a good idea for safety, but this one is a great conversation starter! Tread Lightly
That looks great. I have a GSI set that nests. It has the non-stick coating, but thinking of moving to something without the coating. That being said they are 10years old and holding up fine.
The 2 tip outs give an amazing amount of room in the inside. Will be adding an additional 270 awning, and some solar for boondocking. More interior pics coming soon!
Ecocampor has done this with many trailers. Saw one last night that listed as Manley ORV trailers for the manufacturer, but the pictures were of a Hiker. Fun to look at would like to hear from someone that splurged on one to see if it was even close.
I started camping with the motorcycle camping/backpacking gear. I still pack like I have 2 panniers and a tank bag. Consider 2 sets of clothes and washing one set. Splayds instead of separate silverware, nesting aluminum kitchenware (GSI), and multitools over multiple tools. 2 adjustable...
If you're only doing a little bit of trails why not try it out stock and build as the need arises. I had a '11 JKR and it was remarkable. I did eventually got to a 2.5" Teraflex and the marginally bigger/better tires. I didn't have any issues with the lift. I did the lift cause I was taking it...
I fill my tires with 78/21/1 Nitrogen/Oxygen/trace. Readily available and very cheap. The benefits to high nitrogen are there scientifically, but it is it worth the hassle?
I too travel solo most of the time or with a select few; self reliance and trust respectively. I have all the recovery stuff from when I wheeled, but in overlanding I have been more conservative. I have CB/GMRS been looking into HAM license and the InReach mini. Backups for backups for backups...
