Dave I know this was two years ago, but I'm new to Castle Rock looking for fellow OB members to see if we can't get a meet going, and maybe some trips in the books. Let me know Shannon

My wife does the same , apparently condense is the one word in the English language she does not understand (she's an English teacher).

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

Finally got my overland bound edition Tembo Tusk Skottle. Super excited to put it to use this weekend. Also great price as it's about $45 cheaper through Overlandbound.

    Introducing Beginner Q&A

I purchased a study guide on amazon, but there are also tutorials on you tube. From there you can Google "Ham Radio test in my area". Where im at it looks like the AARL hosts several per year, in your area it may be a different group. Good luck happy hunting, I how this helps.

What is the Quintessential Camp Food?

This is on my large Discada, but can be scaled down for a scottle. Biscuits and gravy. I prepared and bagged the biscuits at home. Cook your favorite sausage, add some flour to the leftover grease, thin with heavy whipping cream, and boom. Side of eggs goes well.

US West Heading to Trona Pinnacles 4/2-4/4

I would guess it's alot of overflow from Oceano Dunes. They are now only allowing 100 overnight camping permits, and 100 day use passes, so that probably why you saw so many side by sides. My buddy was at trona last year this time and it was empty. Like the post above me said, go a little deeper...

    Camping Whisk(e)y?

Blantons has been my go to for awhile. I try to keep a mixture in the house because that can become pricy. On the trail, you can't go wrong with a bottle of Buliet. I decided to splurge on the photo, and as I thought while it is tasty, I should have bought more overland gear lol.

    Propane Tank Sizes

I refill my 1lb bottles, and will often recover disposed of bottles and refill them for friends. It's one of my complaints of the jet boil type stuff, and only use that when backpacking or in the field (army).

    Overland Cooking and Recipes

Don't forget to keep frying the skins until crisp (if it's your thing), and eat that too.

    who likes bacon :)

So my little brother Logan (11), makes a wonderful candied bacon (best in an air fryer due to sugar). Place desired amount of bacon in freezer bag. Add brown sugar (like 2 tablespoons depending on amount of bacon) A pinch of cumin Chile powder (to desired heat level) Close and shake bag...

Almost considered relocating to Georgetown from the Bay Area pre COVID, but had to reconsider. Great area, and right there near hill country. Welcome along with me. I'm new here too.

Hello all. I'm new to overlanding, but I have been an avid camper my whole life, and I've been serving in the Army for 24 years this March. I've been a co-pilot on the Rubicon for the last 12 years, and my wife finally let me get my own rig. I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 So far I've...
