Learned some things in Death Valley - lighting - must have better lighting. Running dirt roads in a group is great fun but the DUST! Plan to add front light bar, side lights and chase lights. Since I’m using a Garmin Overland, I’ll sync everything with Garmin’s Power Switch
I think 8-14 are actually FRS and not GMRS channels. FRS has much lower power output options I believe (max of 0.5 watts?). This would be useful when working a trail and a spotter has a bubble pack FRS radio.
Checking interest again to see if anyone wants to do the NM BDR this coming May? I’d like to run the route from S to N and expect the trip to take about 7 days, camping along the way.
Anyone??
Sounds good, for now still seeing how much interest there is. If you have questions, drop a note. Looking at mid May for now and about a week to do the route itself.
Excellent! I did that in 2022. It’s an epic trip. From Austin it was 8800 miles round trip. From Manassas obviously longer. Be prepared for 24 daylight and mosquitoes like you’ve never seen before!
Hey, thanks for chiming in. Stay tuned - we’ll how much traction this gets. I did a trip to the Arctic Circle this way and it worked out great. Where are you based out of?
