    1994 Isuzu Trooper [$2000 OBO]

Have you been yearning for the outdoors? Longing to get into the overlanding scene but been told that the only way you can do it is with a Toyota? Have you been shopping for a Toyota but concluded that taking out a second mortgage to buy a 30-year-old Land Cruiser with 300,000 on the clock just...

SRN’s 2017 Nissan Armada Build Thread

Thanks! The Y62 platform does not have 4-wheel independent steering (4WIS). That would be cool if it did, though! Just fully independent suspension (FIS). Next upgrade is a font bumper and winch.

SRN’s 2017 Nissan Armada Build Thread

Have had a busy work/life schedule over the past few months but finally had some time yesterday to take the Armada out on a post lift shakedown cruise. Everything worked great, rode surprisingly well on the washboard roads. I really thought that after replacing the air shocks in the rear it...

SRN’s 2017 Nissan Armada Build Thread

Now that it's stopped raining, here are some post lift parking lot photo's: Note the front is sitting higher than the rear, this is because I put on the medium rate springs in anticipation of putting a DASH Predator Bar and winch on this summer. That additional weight should weigh it down...

SRN’s 2017 Nissan Armada Build Thread

Skid Plates I purchased a set of DASH Offroad skid plates from Nisstec. These are for the Patrol, which means that it is just the three plate kit for the oil pan, transmission, and transfercase. It excludes the radiator skid plate, as the Armada has a longer nose. They are developing a radiator...

SRN’s 2017 Nissan Armada Build Thread

I’ve had a number of people reach out to me about Old Man Emu Patrol spring options, so I figured it was time to create a proper “build thread” for my Y62 Armada. I’ll start with the lift install. This is not the easiest install in the world. As such, I did not take a ton of pictures because I...

    Isuzu Trooper Owners

The 3.2L from 92-97 never had an oil consumption issue. The 3.5L in the 98-02's did have a bit, but not horrible. The only real way to solve the issues with the 3.5L is to have the heads redone; but since its so minimal most people just deal with it.

    Isuzu Trooper Owners

Troopers are amazing vehicles, though highly underrated. In my nearly nine years of ownership, I can say that they are every bit as good if not better than a contemporary Land Cruiser. The build quality is top notch and with very little modifications, will go pretty much anywhere you point it...

Must a fridge be hard-wired in?

The uncomplicated answer is, yes. Nearly all vehicle fridges from an Edgestar to a National Luna will run fine off of a standard 12v vehicle power outlet (aka cigarette lighter). Generally, the biggest downside to not running a dedicated line for the fridge is that most manufacturer installed...

    Costco is selling refgs.

Agreed, with a fancier interface. On a side note, not sure why manufacturers want to go with the short side hinge rather than the long side. Makes it so much more difficult to open inside a vehicle.

    On Board Air Compressor

I've had an ARB CKMA12 mounted under the hood of my '94 Trooper for seven years now. Run it in the dustiest, hottest conditions the Utah desert can throw at it, even had water up over the hood on more than a handful of occasions; and the compressor still works like a champ. The most tires I've...
