Ready for a great trip!! Coming over from the LA area so will be at my brothers house in Kingman on Thursday, then meet up with the group on Friday morning.
I feel the same way, have used an Ignik Fire Can for the past several years. So much easier to just turn it off at nite. I usually carry a 20 lb propane on my trips. Both for cooking and fire place, will bring one with me.
Heading out to the Saline Valley (near Death Valley). Looking to do some exploring check out the Box Car Cabin. Next day head into Sale Valley Oasis and enjoy the hot springs. Thursday leave camp late-morning with lunch at Copper Top BBQ in Big Pine before heading home.

Bought my T4, three years ago, best tent I have every owned. When solo toss in my queen air mattress, folding chair, small table able to get up on cold mornings, kick on the heater and stand up to get dressed. Was out in Death Valley with 40+ mph winds last spring, staking out the walls is...
The barrier is what you make it IMHO. I prefer "Overloading" and exploring versus "wheeling" and crawling. With that in mind I put a 2" lift on my JKU, KO2's and it gets me everywhere I want to go. Begin with the end in mind, I spent a year figuring out what it was I wanted to do then made...
When I bring my big tent and my cot, it’s the Coleman Comfort folding cot. When we move camp every day I bring my smaller 2 man tent a Coleman single high slim air mattress works well. I do carry two air mattresses in case one pops a leak, but at around $40.00 each not a lot to bring a back...
Great article, I chuckled because I’m the guy that in 5 minutes had my tent up, chair out, cold beer in hand. I am concerned that the Overlanding experience is getting too highly marketed and the trails / outdoors getting negatively impacted.
As my group name "Jeep'n It Simple" implies i do not fall for all of the marketing hoopla for off road (Overland) gear. Here is an great article from Outside Magazine on this topic - the ultimate overland trailer or has the Overlanding mania finally gone too far? Hope you can access it...
Out there about 2 weeks ago at OB Trail Guardian event. Kelbacker Road serious wash out, is a go around for 4wd. Soda Lake looked damp in the center. Hope this helps. Have a good time.
Hi Glen and Alicia, pretty new to this part of the OB site so not sure how it all works. Sent you a message yesterday on an upcoming Anza Borrego trip with a couple of others not sure if it went through. If interested let me know. Mike (Jeep It Simple).
Completely agree, my brother-in-law did not complete his tour in Vietnam. I was one of about 5 Recruit Applicants in my boot class. Everyone else had been drafted. Our DI’s were always quick to remind us “you’re here because you want to be”.
