Tuscarora State Forest is clear of snow and ice. The snow squall made it a a bit wild and wooly with the wind. A lot of downed trees. Take a saw, quite a few large ones.

Heading up to the camp this weekend. I'll report how Tuscarora S F is. Two weeks ago it was a glacier.

Michaux and Tuscarora are close. It is still hunting season so watch out and if the weather is not good I'd stay off the mountain roads. I believe the disbursed campsites are open because of hunting season but the good ones fill up fast. You might want to reserve one. The weather in December can...

Food & fuel is in Waterville, Slate Run & Cross Forks. Fuel only in Haineyville. They are all on the perimeters and nothing in the middle. I always take it with me because it takes so long to get it and the prices are high. My son bought a sub at Wolf's in Slate Run and it was over $10.00, gas...

Just spent a long weekend around the Black Forest north of 80. It always better there. Tiadaghton, Tioga, Sproul and Susquehannock State Forests, It's not like Colorado but for east coast standards it's pretty big. Yes you need large fuel tanks unless you want to spend half you time looking for...

Any real world information when Ford will start shipping the Broncos. I want to order one but I must drive it first. I’m not putting a deposit down until I start seeing some on the road.

He was a great man. Met him on the Black Forest Trail in 1975. I looked him up every year after that. His cabin was 2 mountains north of my favorite camp site. I often stopped by his cabin on the way back to the trailhead. I envy him for his minimalistic approach to life.

Tuscarora State Forest in a RAM or 2

I was fishing at Fowlers Hollow 2 weeks ago. Cold and ice on the ferrules but had a great time. I love hiking the Tuscarora Trail and up the the Hemlocks but they are not as I remember as a kid. The woolly agid has them almost all dead, the gypsy moths went through about 10 years ago and they...

Buchanan State Forest in a RAM or 2

Not much there for wheeling. Nice views from some of the mountain tops. Our family has been going to Cowans Gap SP for over 50 years the second weekend in October for a family get together. Great times, nice lake, OK fishing but not my favorite SP. You will do better in Tuscarora SF.

Tuscarora State Forest in a RAM or 2

My home turf. Not big but great for a quick getaway. Some of the good roads are gated now, September is best before hunting season. Pretty good disbursed camping but they are taken pretty quick because is is very close to Harrisburg and the more populous eastern PA. I like the Upper Rt. 44...
