I was running two radios. An older Yaesu FT5100 and a Baofeng. I upgraded to an ICOM 2730a to get rid of two radios, I also wanted more than 20 memory channels and some other features that ICOM (and newer radios have).... I really do not get on 2 m or 440 that much, but trying to get...
I need some help guys, I am getting ready to camp this weekend and noticed my cast iron frying pan looking a little rough.
I thought I would cleaned it and re-season..... I cleaned it with hot water, then used a brillo pad to get all the crud off of it. Between yesterday and today, I have run...
Anyone have an experience with the Blackstone? Lately, in the last few months, all of a sudden, various people in the groups we overland with have been pulling them out at camp. Everyone that I know, loves them. I was afraid of the weight, but then I got to thinking, it would eliminate my...
We probably will not go to this event, it is a long drive. In Feb, they will be down in Wilmington, so we are headed there. Great events and a very good way to meet some very cool like minded folks.
Two weekends ago a group went and did not have problems. Another group had a long thread about HC closing and one guy, who was local said they have been talking about it since before he was born, lol. It is a state unmaintained road. I think they grade it once or twice a year but I do...
It is a clearance issue. Also, solid bottom when there is no rain. After a heavy rain, not so solid. Dry, I blew thru it. I would love to run it in December and actually put a group ride out of Charlotte together, but it is on hold or cancelled, pending closure. FYI - forestry service...
I know this post was two weeks ago. I heard the gate was closed on the entrance off I-40. Can anyone confirmed?
I ran it in October, deep ruts and mud, only stock would have issues in a couple spots.
I got it all working, I set the top VFO for Frequency and the bottom for Name. I had these old Motorola’s from my kids scout days and tested. Works great. Thanks for help.
Wow, thank you. I was trying to build that from scratch. Very nice of you to create. Yes, I could have probably set the freq, but Baofeng is such a pain in the but to set. I bought it two years ago, downloaded CHIRP and programmed the local repeaters. Since them I forgot how to program...
I only used it for making coffee and hash bowns on both mornings, seemed to work fine. The stove did come with a propane adapter, I just did not use it.
Hey all, a few weeks ago, we took off for a three day overlanding. I thought I was set with my Yaesu and Baofeng HT. Out of 20 rigs, three had amateur radio. The preferred mode was GMRS, with a back up of CB. Of course, I did not have chirp with me and could not program my...
Last weekend, we went way up in the mountains, far away from people. We just needed to decompress and get away from everything. This was my set up, it was amateur hour. Learned a lot on our first cooking camping trip.
I do have an SWR meter but have not bothered to read it..... It’s 2 meter - on RC-8 cable with a Diamond Antenna = its really a matched system. CB is 11 meter and usually the SWR is typically not great with a mobile antenna.
We are actually going camping this weekend to get away from the craziness, just disconnect from the phone and internet. Trying to get as far away as possible.
I bought the stove from an older couple that purchased a Coleman spa in the late 80's. That is what they said.... and this stove...
