Depends on the trail, example for Poker Flat trail as long as you have 4Lo you should be fine. However some trails, you might be to wide, like some parts of Barney Riley trail.
Welcome, I'm also in the Danville area. Let me know if you want to explore some moderate rated trails, a group of us go out at least once a month.
Michael
Hey how's it going! If things change please let me know I'd love to tag along like last time. I'd try to plan and organize something, however I don't have your magnetic personality, and I usually get ditched like a dress in a cheap hotel on prom night.
Trying to get a headcount estimate, let me know if you're interested and are able to make it out this Sunday. The weather looks a lot better than last Sunday.
So I'm pulling the plug and pushing this back one week to Sunday November 6th. I know we need the rain, but I hope we get a decent pause.
Weather permitting: Same Location and time (9:30am) Sunday November 6th.
That's good to know, here in the east bay the rain has been minimal, so I think it was giving me a false sense of hope. Not to sound like a wimp, I'm okay waiting a week. This weekend my wife would be with me, and I can just picture all the nagging with the rain, mud and zero visibility with the...
Okay, just called the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. They do not close down the trail due to rain, however if they (rangers?) see you damaging the trails (unnecessarily creating ruts) they will make you leave. With that said, the lady was saying they're getting a lot of rain and expecting...
Is everyone still okay going in the snow (OD, Michael, VDawg & Recon)? I've never been on this trail so I'm not sure how difficult it will be with snow in the picture. According to the Forecast that I'm looking at it looks like the snow will be in the afternoon.
I'm thinking we could meet here: 310 W River Rd, Tahoe City, CA 96145 (Chevron Gas Station)
From what I can tell it's the closest gas station to the trail head. Does 9:30am still work?
Great, let me know as we get closer to the date. Judging by your rig it doesn't look like you mess around, so I'm assuming you have either a CB or HAM?
Hey Zack
Yup just a Sunday day trip. It would be great if you could make it, the more the merrier! If we do the Ellis Peak/Blackwood Canyon trail it should take us a minimum of 4 hours, but more likely 6-7 hours with fun and interesting sites along the trail.
I will be visiting the Reno area the weekend of October 29th & 30th. Wanted to see if anyone was interested in hitting a trail close to Reno, or North Lake Tahoe area. While I've done some research online and found a few recommended trails like Ellis Peak, I don't have any personal experience...
So I decide to pop my video editing cherry, so please be gentle and refrain from the negativity. I'm working with a free basic MS Video Editor and more than half of the recorded video that day was ruined by the dust. Also keep in mind I'm a number crunching desk jokey and don't make my lively...
No worries, it's totally cool. Noah is actually pretty good about not repeating "bad" words. I've dropped so many F-bombs around or even at him, yet I've still haven't heard him repeat it. It's funny though thanks to Tyler ( I think it was him), Noah's new favorite phrase (that he's allowed to...
What's up, yes I captured videos of both Zack and Mike sliding down the creek. I will try my best to upload and share them later tonight.
It was great meeting everyone, I had a great time, making those scenic stops was a lot of fun. I know my son had a blast, his ears were glued to the CB...
