Thank you guys. I am finally hoping I can get out and start exploring the area. I have been here for about 2 years and spent the time working on building a cabin and other stuff.. It is about time I have some fun.
I have been a member here for a while but have moved around a bit, Finally settled in Sumpter, Oregon. I have wanted to check back in, but multiple projects keep stealing my time and focus. I am hoping to get out more in this coming year.
I actually put 2 identical buildings about 15 feet apart, the other is storage and my man cave/gun room and just a ways from that one is another shop to store my tools. I am doing my wrenching on the 10x15 concrete slab in front of that building. They are still works in progress. I still have a...
It has been interesting. We went from a 2300 sqft house with over sized 3 car garage and I had a 6 figure income, I built a small cabin from basically an enlarged garden shed to a small 540 sqft cabin. Just Me, the wife and dog, but so much happier. We didn't need all the space and bills, though...
In a years time I left my job, retired, sold my house, dramatically down-sized, moved to a different state and built a small cabin in the mountains and hopefully left that heart attack that was chasing me in the dust. It has been an extremely busy year, but now there is light at the end of the...
I am all for opsec and situational awareness and think it should be practiced in everyday life, but sometimes Sh*T happens and situations arise that need to be dealt with. I am just offering my whats and whys. Everybody is different and what works for some may not work for others.
I have never...
They do make some pretty hot 9mm rounds, but you do have to watch chamber pressures.. Going to a +P or +P+ round can get pretty dangerous on weapons not designed for them, a stuck case and failure to load the next round would be one of the least damaging scenarios. I have seen exploded...
While I admit I would prefer a long gun with big mean animals around, my .45-70, my .338 or even a 12 ga. A 10 mm is the most firepower I can carry and feel comfortable with. There is harder hitting handguns, but most carry 5-6 rounds, my Glock has 15 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber and...
When out hiking I always open carry (especially in bear country). Of course I make sure I have a copy of the RCW's saying it is legal just in case. I have never ran in to any issue, I have talked to several park rangers and they never even batted an eye. When hiking I carry a Glock 20C...
The latest updates on the interior stuff.. Though I just updated to a 7 inch GPS. Researching a ram ball mount for a 7 or 8 inch tablet with off road maps and gps.. Installed a PowerTrax No Slip and Cat back exhaust.
Thank you, I have looked on that site before and it seemed most stuff was out of stock. I will keep checking back though. I am always on the search for new and shiny stuff.
I really like this vehicle, so far been very happy with it. I just wish it had the 6 spd manual instead of the 5 spd.. If the trans starts having issues I will see if I can retrofit the 6 spd. I wish someone made a read bumper for it, I am constantly searching for new and shiny parts.
I admit it, I am a sky nerd. Still learning and a beginner in the hobby, though. I have several telescopes, nothing too big or fancy yet, but collection is growing. I always try to take one of the smaller scopes or a good set of binos whenever we travel. If it is dark, I am staring at the sky...
I installed a Powertrax No slip today. I have always been curious about those type of lockers, found a deal for $300 so thought I would give it a try. I am used to clutch limited slips or Detroit TruTracs so we will see. So far I am still in the break-in stages and getting used to the clicks...
I may be building another one soon. My father whom is getting up in age, just called and offered to give me his 2004 Dakota Ext cab 4wd with matching canopy 22,000 original miles. Hard to say no, even though I have a driveway full of vehicles and keeping something stock is really difficult for...
We would much rather be on the other side of the mountain. The little town of Hansville is changing and not for the better. The wife and I both want out of this area and maybe even state. Looking at Idaho or Montana.
Welcome from across the water. Working on getting the wife out of the motor home and do a bit of overlanding also. So far she is excited about the trips and exploring part of Overlanding, we will see about the rest. She used to like back packing and tent camping, but after the self-contained...
