If you get a set of rock sliders and test them out, I may be interested in some as well. Let me know how those work if you go that route. Make sure you post some pics of your rig as well once you get you set up going. I'm interested to see what you come up with. Like you said there aren't many...
Yeah that's true. IMO there is a downside to lots of aftermarket support. You tend to get a lot of vehicles that look the same because everyone gets the same bumpers or the same lights. So an optimistic way to look at it is that, we have more reasons to have parts customized so each rig will be...
Yessir! There's a youtuber called LASTLINEOFDEFENSE. He has a tacoma, but is running the diamondback HD Cover and then installed the front runner rails (instead of the full tray) to mount his tent on top. Check him out he has a rig walk around video and it might give you some ideas for yours.
Here are the pics of the front runner rack and Smittybilt Overlander XL tent mounted up. I have about 9 or 10 inches of space above the bed rails. The tent rides right at the roof line so I don't notice any issues driving or sounds that come from it.
The front runner rack I got was the 1475mm...
Very cool. Would you be able to share the map from Gaia? We were looking at checking out Uwharrie but haven't found much on it. looks like most people head to pisgah.
Nice pictures as well!
Gonna preface this with "I'm not a professional offroader or tire person."
I love the wildpeak At3w. Was gonna go with that if I chose an AT instead of the MT. The biggest difference between the T and the S is the load rating. The T comes in the SL load rating so your basic tire load. Usually...
Agreed, just got the Patagonia M/T's this weekend. Put a couple hundred on them so still breaking in but love how they ride and agree they are no worse then the street tires I had before. Some how was able to fit 33x12.50r17 on the silverado with only a 2inch level. No rub at all while driving...
I've downloaded Gaia, but I currently have the free membership and I feel like I would need to get the premium so I can use the offline maps as well as check out the overland map options. Which version do you have? Have you had any issues while utilizing the maps?
Thank you for all of the stories and tips. I didn't get to do much camping when I was younger but I want to raise my son outdoors and my wife loves travelling so we figured this is a great way to kill two birds with one stone. I'll look into all of these resources and try to "get lost." Thanks...
Great looking rig. I also have a '15 silverado 1500 crew cab. Just installed the Front Runner Bed Rack and have the smittybilt Overlander XL on top. What lift you running and what size tires? Glad to see a Chevy!
So I think our plan is to meet up on Saturday with y'all at the trail head. Hang out for the day and I think we will break off later in the afternoon. But definitely planning on at least coming out there and having some fun. Not sure if anyone has asked but how difficult is the trail? I do have...
Would love to attend. If you end up doing Fri to Sun is there a way we could still meet with the group on Saturday? I get off work late on Friday but would love to meet up. Just got the rig set up and haven't been on a trip yet so would love to get my feet wet with a group.
To all of the seasoned vets on here, how did you find your trails and campsites when you first started out? We are finishing up the rig with our RTT and Rack and want start with some simple weekend trips, but I have no idea where to start with finding trail heads and dispersed camping areas. I...
Would you recommend the standard, High clearance, or XL? My silverado is only leveled at the moment and I'll be upgrading to 33s so I would think the standard would probably be good, but since you got one might as well ask. lol.
I looked these up and looks like the Tongue weight is around 750lbs. I don't foresee anyone getting to that much weight. Might have to look into this after I upgrade my tires. No point at the moment since I'm on the stock 31.5"
