Welcome to the thread... I lost mine a year and a half ago in a Moto accident also. On a beautiful canyon road on a beautiful day a Ford dually and I decided to share the same spot around a tight corner. My leg was pinned between the rear tires and the bike as I flew off. I have since built...
LBK checking in. Mud is kryptonite especially if having to winch. I have an offroad prosthesis I put together that I have a to the knee water proof boot. I also have a pinlock setup so it helps in being able to walk in the mud. One of the more challenging issues was the first time I had to climb...
Damn, now I'm going to have to have all my Polo's re-embroidered to say "Off The Normal Path Exploring Adventurer with Modern Technology" . That's going to cost a fortune. [eye roll]
@MOAK don't want to hijack my own thread but let me know if a Baja trip would be in the near future for planning. I would be ready to take it to the next planning level. 3-5 rigs I think would be a must for that area.
Throwing this out , how about sept 20 for travel from San Antonio to BBNP. we can plan each days run to start and stop so there would be easy bail out points but we would stay probably through Monday night.
Saw this and although an older post ... we are trying to put together a Big Bend trip next month. We are also looking at the Ozarks, Baja, Mojave Road, PINS and back to COSprgs. We are right down the road with a full size Diesel and Jeep TJ near Benbrook. Hit up Chemical Guys, Mikes and...
Love my gas lantern, but carry and use both. Hard to believe but one of my favorites is a collapsible solar led lantern. Going to throw a couple more in the bag.
Many people get different things out of their trips. We like not only seeing and exploring but the camaraderie of the group and the experience of sharing trips with new friends. Although not new to offroading and what we now call overlanding, organizing and setting up a trip is new to me so I...
I like that Idea, we will drive down for sure. Looks like Oct 4,5,6, in Llano. If we planned for Big Bend in October might be a good time to discuss routes and campsites.
Looking to gauge interest in a Big Bend Trip. Targeting somewhere between Sept 13 and Oct 18. Understanding that Oct 4,5,6 will be blocked out. looking for 5 to 10 rigs. Routes and trails to be discussed. Show of hands with some dates!
Seriously, besides Labor Day ... we just need a couple days notice and are close to the most flexible. I have a car show over labor day other then that someone shout out a date. I think anything before the end of the second week in sept would be too hot but as we learned on this hill...
No problem here. We will probably trailer down or drive the Jeep down as well. Some of the camp sites I have seen on video look like they would support 5 or 6 rigs.
Starting here for a couple of days... then I'll create a new thread if needed. Anyone want to start planning a couple day Big Bend trip after the weather breaks? maybe mid September? have been watching and researching after JJ mentioned it.
