New to GMRS. Possible to Buy Radios without CTSS Tones Enabled?

Look at what other's have said. I have not bought one of these types of radios. I"m a ham radio operator so I don't really use GMRS/FRS. I was under the impression, maybe mistakenly, that these radios don't come with the CTSS tones enabled. If they do, you should be able to turn them off...

New to GMRS. Possible to Buy Radios without CTSS Tones Enabled?

Hello, Those packaged radios come with the tones you can activate. The tones can be turned on and off. If you buy a Baofeng, you’ll likely need to program it, unless you’re getting a Baofeng GMRS radio. You can still use the tones on these radios but you’ll need to know the frequencies and...

US West Michael and Corrie at the Four Wheeler Adventure Expo!

This is the first OB event I’m attending. Do the hams in the group usually take their HTs? Is anyone on APRS usually? I can’t wait to meet everyone.

Thank you. I have been on the net the past few times, including today. I'll get the Gladiator at one point but for now I just want anything that can take on some off road trails.

Hello everyone, I have always loved adventure but I never really went out except to Calico a few times. I went to the LA Auto Show last year (2018) and a new friend came along. We saw the Jeep Gladiator and we both fell in love with the vehicle. We could not stop talking about the adventures...

Yes, I figure as much. I loved it when I first saw it but as I thought about it more, I think I’d rather get a Wrangler. The Chevy Colorado looks promising though.

Why you need to buy a quality Handheld (Portable) radio.

I’d go with the first one only because if it’s IP54 rating. One thing I was considering before was the FT-60R, even though it’s an older radio, can transmit the full 5 watts running off of the AA battery pack option. Most radios drop in wattage running that way. I have not been able to find if...

    The real FTM-400XDR question

That overhead mount is a good idea so you can’t keep it away from any water that may get into your vehicle. That has always been my concern with the under the seat mounting. You might still want an external speaker though to direct the sound to you. I believe that radio has a stereo speaker jack...

How about the new Jeep Gladiator? I saw it at the LA Auto Show and I fell in love. The only issue is the bed is a bit shallow, since you mentioned you will actually use it.
