I'll 3rd that. Spent a lot of time in the Mojave in all kinds of weather. You need to be more aware of the terrain but overall not a huge threat so long as you're staying aware of the weather upstream.
Some notes:
- Pay attention to the wind. The wind will pick up if it's a storm gust front...
I did the run on the 14th with some friends (4 rigs) and we went all the way through to Icehouse without an issue. We did get caught behind a jeep group that had new drivers and stock rigs so it was slow going up the big hill past the cabin. The cabin was JAMMED up with 50+ rigs there so we went...
I will be unable to attend. As I was prepping noted that I need to replace a CV boot and fix the sway bar disconnect that tore it up.
I am rather disappointed to miss out on this.
I've purchased a 1st 200 Tundra to be my around town/desert overlanding rig. I plan to mount my RTT below the roofline on the bed and use it for fire roads, hunting and maybe trails like Sourgrass or Corral Hollow. No rock crawling or such but general rough terrain. I am looking for suspension...
I love the route. Start in your backyard and end where mine will be.
And there might even be some cool people along for some of it :)
@Arturo solorzano @Jroettele
Name: None yet
Stock suspension. 2.5" OME BP15 set is the current plan (If you have experience with them please comment)
Ragged and banged up stock nerf bars (real sliders needed)
Michelin LTX A/T2 tires, stock size (I get laughed at but they haven't failed me yet)
Warrior Platform Rack
Bell...
Lemme get my lift and bumper in and I'll jump on it too.
Someone has to be there to help dig A-Aron outta the mud (And I need his rig to snatch me outta the snow :)
Good pics!
Whats the brand and model of that kitchen you have going there? I've been muddling around with stoves and chuck boxes recently and I love looking at cool rigs for ideas.
Went to Brazil a few years ago. They make what I call Cowboy Coffee and it's amazing everywhere (helps their coffee beans are REALLY fresh). Simmer/Boil the water with grounds, hit with some cold water to settle grounds out and then filter it as you pour.
Now I just do that in a kettle and make...
Will someone be flying an OB base camp pennant?
I'll be in the Grey FJ with a black roof and coyote trasharoo on the back. Just in case you see me wandering around lost :)
