We were looking at doing this with he kids.... but are you able to camp wherever you want? Or do you have to find a designated campground?

If you get a good route I’d be super interested to see it. I’m in southern Louisiana and we don’t have much of anything. If Arkansas had a lengthy trail, that sure would be closer than driving to New Mexico

I’ve found a few sites that detail trails around the country. It there’s slim pickings around here from what I’ve seen. Have to believe though that there’s some decent stuff. But I’m open to exploring.. I’ve seen Kisatchie west of Alexandria may be decent.

Have you found some decent stuff in the area? Where at(roughly)?

I’m in ponchatoula as well. Very new to overlanding but would like to find some light trail stuff in our area. Only thing I know of within a days driving distance of home is the spillway. Very familiar with that area so there’s not much left to be explored.
