Georg at Valley Hybrids is the best. Awesome guy who takes real pride in a job well done, and hugely invested in the LC community. If your screen name means you drive an ‘88 cruiser, he’s your guy. It’s a little far, but I keep a Gold AAA membership just so I can send my rig to Georg if it...
I think you’d have some trouble not dinging your stock bumpers at Slick Rock. I’m lifted 6” on 37s, and my rear hit a couple times. The bigger Jeep I was with (Ray) hit his rear bumper and bent it up - and it was an armored one. I think he’s lifted 4” on 35s.
All rigs from our Corral Hollow run, lined up at the ridge overlooking Bear Valley.
Also, our view from near the Utica Reservoir side of Slick Rock Trail.
Sure, 10:15 Friday. See you there! Also - hot springs are not the bomb at Barney Riley. The pools got smashed out, not sure how. There was only 1 small pool full of algae.
Barney Riley was fun. There’s some steep rocky Dow hill on the way in, but it was easier to climb back up on the way out. There are lots of branches close to the trail - I got a solid coat of desert pinstriping on that trip. I’d recommend leaving it alone if having a pretty rig is important...
Haha! Good on ya for posting the trip then. Love the adventurous spirit. We will both figure out Slick Rock together, but I do know where it is. When are where are we meeting Friday morning? At Corral Hollow or Safeway in Arnold (about 15 minutes from trail head).
I’m in. Have done Corral Hollow when my rig was more mildly built, it was fun. Stoked for Slick Rock. Doing Barney Riley with my sons this weekend (7/5 through 7/7). Sounds like fun!
I strongly recommend getting other vehicles / families to go with you. We went in April, single rig trip, and missed out on a lot for practical / safety reasons. At 105 + degrees during the day, the potential consequences of a breakdown really limited our options. We still had an AMAZING time...
