Post a Picture That Defines Overlanding For You

Not my rig, but impressed me beyond belief. This was 55 miles from the nearest pavement in Death Valley. The gentleman who owned it drove it from Oregon. He made a great point: This vehicle was made in an era of dirt roads, rocks, and ruts. The suspension tuned through necessity vise want...

Using dry ice in ice chest?

What has worked for me is the two-cooler setup. I have successfully gone 21 days and still had ice cubes on the last day. As previously mentioned, one cooler is your dry-ice setup with frozen foods and one is your daily. Minimize visits to both, if you can, and keep your coolers out of direct...

Anyone Canceling an adventure (namely in CA)?

History does in fact repeat itself. Case in point. H1N1 (Bird Flu) Pandemic of 1918. You may recall this from your history lessons as the Spanish Flu. It was a global issue. Unfairly labeled as the Spanish Flu, when it was in fact H1N1. Remember H1N1 from a few years ago? Same thing. Only, in...

Anyone Canceling an adventure (namely in CA)?

All long plans are cancelled. I might (maybe, depending on how the situation evolves where I'm at) go for a drive for a few hours this weekend to get out and away. But that's looking less and less every hour. I may just end up fiddling with my vehicle this weekend, clean out the garage, get...

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

Yup. Went with the mesh box for pots/pans/misc (etc). It breathes, so the dishes can dry without molding while we're driving; or just at a place where I can carry all the dishes in one container to the wash basin/area. The larger box has food and I like that its burro/rodent-proof and may keep a...

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

My humble camp setup. Not pictured is the REI aluminum table that can be deployed when not at an established campsite. Longest trip on this so far was recent at 22 days. Didn't need to refuel the can either. It's whipped out and cooking in under 5 minutes.

How do you mark forums read? Also, how do you revert back to the old?

    Backpacking and hiking

There's a lot open to interpretation for Southern California. I consider anything on the South border of Sequoia National Park - South Sierra Wilderness, Golden Trout Wilderness, Sequoia National Forest... San Luis Obisbo - and south in Southern California. There are too many (too many) options...

Location: San Diego - the weather's always horrible here, stay away! 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Haven't put too many modifications into it, yet. Previously had a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with a few tweaks. Mostly, though I have found it is 60% driver 40% vehicle. I'm experienced in the outdoors and...
