The maps they sell are optional. People have even used paper maps in the past. Keep in mind there is no route as such - just start and end locations (and sometimes points of interest between the two) for each day. We were in the race category last time so don't know exactly what info was...
We had zero issues crossing into Tecate last time. First time staying in town so can't speak to the security at the hotel although if it is anything like last time, there will be several teams camping in the parking lot. Only hotel on route (before finish outside of TJ) is outside of Todos...
Let me know if you have any rally specific questions - I did it last time in 2019 and am going again in January. Are you in the Racing or Adventure category?
We will be in San Felipe the 27th and 28th, then Gonzaga Bay 29th and 30th, then Bahia de Los Angeles the 31st,1st, and 2nd. We will be in our 07 Xterra 4x4 and plan to camp.
While you can fill out the FMM Tourist Card online, you do have to get it stamped by an immigration officer at the...
I agree with you, the further south the better it gets. We won't make it further south than Bahia de LA this time to keep driving distances within my wife's preferences. Having a cold beverage on a beach in Baja with fellow Overland Bound members would be pretty cool.
Ken - thanks for offering your wife's camp. Does she allow dogs?
We have more time than your suggested itinerary so will maybe camp a night or two at Gonzaga Bay - Rancho Grande maybe?
From there, two or three nights at Bahia de Los Angeles - maybe Archelon Camp. Time to explore the area...
If anyone is interested in tagging along or just meeting up somewhere along our route for a cold beverage on a Baja beach, let me know. It would be great to meet some fellow OB members.
It looks like we will be leaving Dec 27th and returning to San Diego Jan 5th. Probably stop first night in San Felipe, then head south to visit Punta Final area, Bahia de Los Angeles / Bahia de los Animas, and Mission San Francisco de Borja. Last night might be at Guadalupe Canyon Oasis as it...
Not sure if we will make it all the way to Cabo as I need to avoid long driving days to keep my wife happy. Haven't put too much thought into it yet but beach camping is top of the list. First thoughts are San Felipe, Bahia de Los Angeles and then building on that.
We will be camping near Pagosa Springs for 3 days in mid June as part of a 3 week trip through AZ, NM, and CO. Anyone have trail suggestions for day trips?
Timely information - thanks everyone. We will be camping at Jacob Lake June 26 - 29. Looks like we will be there between Superslidestyle (Xterras ftw) and Razrrila99
We have also entered the race category but this will not be our first time in Baja. I have driven as far south as Loreto before but looking forward to going back and seeing more as it is such an amazing place.
