In my opinion an XJ or JKU with diesel swap(Cummins 4BT, Mercedes OM617, Cummins R2.8). For something better on-road I really think a 4runner or Lexus GX is your best bet.
Edit: Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Diesel?
Time to switch over to ultralight gear. You will save the most space with ultralight sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tents(we use tarps and hammocks), and switching from fresh food to freeze dried/dehydrated(ditching the cooler altogether). Its a lot more expensive, but its worth it. In reality...
Steel all the way. I wanted alloys for the longest time because I thought they were lighter, but as it turns out all the alloy wheels I like are very similar in weight to the steelies I'm running(+/-3-5lbs) .
Someone had a set of the RUGCEL ones on a winter camping trip we did this year. They held up perfectly in -15 weather. I was going to buy a pair but I want something in orange so they are easier to find in the mud and snow.
My everyday boot currently is a pair of Blundstone 585's. I hate them. My go to boot was the Doc Marten 2296. I love a good leather wellington boot. They lasted me about 6 years, but you can't get them in Canada anymore. For laced boots I wear a pair of Royer Agility Land Operation boots, most...
Winch as well for me.
I always go out alone, so having a winch is extremely important for me. I tend to tackle a lot of rocks and really rough terrain, stuff where you need a winch or its impassible. Plus its great for sketchy situations like ice or steep terrain where rollovers are likely.
Another meetup sounds good to me! What jeep club are you in?
Swift Rapids might be a decent trail. Its just a road through crown land with some trails that split off, and areas to camp. I've only been up once, so maybe others with more knowledge of that area can be of more help.
I personally vote Outback. 2015+
I love ours, and of course there are a few great builds here on the forum(Lookin at you @Wawa Skittletits !). I like the crosstrek as well, but I find it too small. Plus you can get the 3.6 in the outback.
Unfortunately, no.
I found Iberogast at my local grocer but didn't grab it, and they haven't had it since weirdly.
Otherwise this winter has been pretty rough on me. I chalk it up to the lack of exercise, and sunlight for vitamin D. Plus these last couple of months have been stressful lately(for...
Brand doesn't matter to me, as long as they hold up! Glad you mentioned the brand, because I see a few designs I like and they are definitely cheaper than the others I have looked at.
