Is that a TVM Flintlock?
I've got a frankenHawken I built with a custom curly maple stock, custom .54 barrel, and it's got the vernier tang sight like the Quigley Down Under rifle.
I've also got a CVA Kit flintlock, a blunderbuss, and enough parts to probably make two more. Love muzzleloaders.
Well don't be too envious.
I had a small doe get close to my stand but not nearly close enough to get an ethical shot (she was at a bad angle)
I did however have a hawk land on a branch about five feet from my face and just watch me for a while, which was pretty cool.
Haven't updated in a minute but I have made some progress. First off, I took the Xt out and did some off roading at my friend's farm and aside from some worn shocks and bushings that could use replacing everything was solid. So I put together a parts list on amazon to freshen up the suspension...
I picked up the Magellan Outdoors (Academy Sports Brand) cot and hanging organizer and I've had it on five trips now and it's done exceptionally well. It's pretty comfortable.
That kettle is the only thing I've ever purchased from an REI. I got a gift card there once and I have not regretted that purchase since.
It's a little cumbersome if you're backpack camping just since it's not a practical pot for making soup in but if you're overlanding or have a little more...
I've spent the last week or so looking at Cowboy Woks and being in TN around a bunch of farms I've just sent out an SOS to see if anyone has an old cast iron plow disc I can have.
If for some reason that doesn't work out I've found a few vintage shops that have them for $20 or so and I'm just...
I don't have any social media other than an instagram for some of my bushcraft stuff but I'm planning a trip in the next couple of weeks to go to LBL to the Turkey to do some camping for the weekend. We could prolly get a mini-meet together.
I'll post pictures this weekend but I've swapped the plastic grab handles for Paracord handles and I've got a vintage CB Radio (late 70s) wired up, I'm just trying to figure out where I want to put the antenna. I want it on the safari rack but I can't leave the antenna up 24/7 in that config...
I went overboard but I realized that for a relatively low cost I can never be without fire.
- I have a paracord band on my wrist that's got some fishing line, a couple of waterproof matches, fishhooks, a small blade, and the buckle is a ferro rod.
- I keep a lighter in my pocket usually at...
T.H.I.S.
Now that hunting season starts when its still muggy and 88 degrees out the Thermacel is a lifesaver.
I keep one clipped to my belt pretty much spring onward. Past that I just use deep woods off on my clothes for the ticks, which at least stops most of them.
Yeah I take the lint and put it in toilet paper rolls and then fill the gaps with wax and cut it into discs like sushi.
One of those little pucks will burn for about 10-15 minutes straight.
