These are some sweet setups.
Question for those of you that have flat mounted 100w (or so) panels, how much charging current do you typically see on a clear day? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth designing and building a tilt mechanism.
Thanks!! I will definitely be stealing your idea!
I wish I could make it to Big Bend, but unfortunately there's no way I'd be able to take enough time off in January.
Do you have any close-up shots of your panel mounts with the lift supports? I've been trying to come up with an easy way to tilt a panel on my roof, and this looks like a perfect solution.
That was when we had just arrived... I was waiting in line to check in.
It was a lot of fun, even though Friday night/Saturday morning was pretty miserable. It was totally worth it hanging out and meeting everyone Saturday evening, and especially coming home with a new RTIC cooler!! Glad I...
Just picked one of these up, unfortunately they're not $39.99 anymore. Impressed with the quality and the design is really cool with the integrated trash bag and paper towel holder. Can't wait to try it out next weekend. Since I've got a truck bed, the size is no problem, just throw it on the...
There's the Texas Overland Spring Roundup in April: https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/texas-spring-roundup-04-06-2018.12919/
The registration deadline was Sunday, but they might be able to work with you.
I just posted a thread gauging interest in a wheeling trip at one of the OHV...
I think it might be fun for those around the DFW area to meet up at one of the OHV parks in the area for a day or two (or three) of wheeling.
The two spots I know about are Northwest OHV Park in Bridgeport (http://www.cityofbridgeport.net/322/Northwest-OHV-Park) and Barnwell Mountain...
That was probably my ranger you saw, not sure who owned that jeep though... they weren't with us. You should have come inside! I got there late and just asked the hostess if there was an Overland Bound group there, and she pointed me in the right direction.
Shoot, I'm just now seeing this, and I have plans to be out at Barnwell Mtn that day. Do you mind a last minute straggler if I'm able to get out early enough to make it to Grapevine?
I'm looking for ideas for fluid storage (oils, coolant, brake fluid, etc.). Right now I just have quart and gallon containers sitting in my tool box. I'm sure some of you have come up with clever ways to store these bottles more efficiently. Maybe transferring them to a different type of storage...
I have had very mixed experiences with Optima yellow tops. I've had a couple that lasted many years (my last one was almost 9 years old), and others that barely lasted two years. From my experience, it seems their quality control has gone downhill.
I've had great experiences with Interstate...
I've been very impressed with Herculiner. The roll-on, not the spray (haven't tried the spray yet). It goes on thick, it's tough, and looks good. Of course, not many finishes will hold up to a few thousand pounds of truck landing on a rock, but touch up is super easy- just grab a paint brush...
@Boort - The GoalZero Mini Lantern looks pretty awesome. It's a little more than I was hoping to spend, but GoalZero stuff seems to be top quality.
@phxdsrtrat - That Subos lantern looks like it might be a winner. From the description on Amazon, it can take either 2 18650's or 3 AA batteries. I...
