    My MDX...

The dog is definitely the best mod. I agree a 2500# winch will not be very helpful, better $ spent on some traction boards you can strap to the roof. The brush bar gives it an off road look, but you cannot pull from it and it adds weight and wind resistance cutting mpg and range so personally...

Post your best "I am really stuck" photos here!

Finally got pulled out by a giant truck on 44” tires. This was in California up near the Devils Punchbowl.

    Rockers/Sliders

I did that with 2x2" .25" wall tube angled on the ends - its worked out well and looks better than bashed in rockers and stands up to rocks fine. I tied some flat steel plate underneath across the empty space across to the pinch weld to tie and support it in place.

    Rock slider construction

Yes - mine do not stick out enough to even get your toe on. lol They are literally a replacement for rockers that took too much abuse. We didn't weld to the frame, such as it were - because the unibody frame section was a good 8-10" inboard yet from the rockers - I know many slider designs have...

    Rock slider construction

In my WJ, I had bashed the rockers up in rock sessions. I didn't want to lose clearance so cut out my existing sheet metal rocker panels and welded in 1/4" 2x2" tubing angled on ends with 1/8" plate. I just tied it to the pinch weld area with 3/16" flat plate underneath as a larger support and...

    Maxtrax Mounting.

I had nuts welded to the underside of my rack bar so I could mount my traction mats with bolts through direct to the rack without taking rack space. They angle up against the rack side bars and are held tight to the tie down bars so there is no flap or play there. I can just run a combo cable...

What do I really need for recovery gear?

Most "come-a-longs" I don't trust to hold up - the HiLift can double as one in a pinch so carry one of those with a wide base that can be used to dig. A folding saw. Recovery strap and soft shackles (I've been converted). Best recovery device is your brain and another vehicle.

1999 WJ Grand Cherokee Adventure Rig

Regarding that radiator. I replaced a leaking stock one with another plastic-aluminum radiator. Six months later was bleeding pressure and having overheating issues due to bad seal between plastic tank and aluminum rows. I replaced with a 2 row ALL-aluminum radiator off ebay for $325. Cooling...
