Starting F-150 build for big national park trip

We went to CO Springs at the end of the week and went up a little dirt road that had a spectacular view of the city and the storm coming through. We also found a water fall on a hike!

It’s true. The tent was great but we’re looking to get a small trailer. With 3 kids we end up bringing half of our house!

@AggieOE the Billie Bars are amazing. I went with the 8” height so I could still use the tonneau cover. Great product with lots of attachments.

Starting F-150 build for big national park trip

It’s been a while but a few updates. Starting from the most recent “action” we checked off our first NP trip this summer. We drove out to Colorado and spent a few days at the Great Sand Dunes NP. We came in via the Medano Pass and camped in one of the dispersed camping spots. The pass was...

I had those on the ‘15 I just sold. I’m going to wait to upgrade them in the future.

Yes I am running the combo and I have the rear left stock for now. It’s a 2” “lift” which is really just a level on the f150, which is the tallest notch.

Just a quick side view of the current build. Trying to figure out what is coming next.

Starting F-150 build for big national park trip

It's been a year but here is quick update. The 2015 was swapped for a 2020, same trim package. I've added just a few things to get us going; 1. Ebiach level kit on front 2. 17" Pro Comp 32s wrapped in Yokahama Geolander ATs (285/70/17) 3. Some comms for our trail runs, just GMRS at this point...

Starting F-150 build for big national park trip

Sorry it’s been a whirlwind with this truck recently. A few updates are needed. It’s a 2015 xlt 4wheel drive with a few minor upgrades. Had to replace some basic maintenance, battery, water pump, belts and a pulley, driver side rear hub assembly all done in my garage. Currently I’ve been...

    Digital alternative

I appreciate this thread. As I’m navigating ways to… navigate, it can seem overwhelming and easy to get lost in this app vs that app. I’m a digital native so I’m not intimidated by digits maps, but I appreciate seeing how others get around. I’ll be using some of these methods in the coming weeks.

    Winter project begins

Very cool. I’m hoping to do a trailer build by 2023. Would love to see how you do this. Was this a trailer you already had?

    (Michigan) Trail maintenance, DNR volunteering

Any follow up on how this went? Did you find any one? I’d love to get out with my kids next year and do some volunteering and camping all in one.

    Winter Camper?

Great tip thanks! We live winter camping. Easiest and cheapest way to get out in the long winters in Michigan and hit the “slopes” on the weekends.

Starting F-150 build for big national park trip

I was gifted a 2015 f-150 from my father law about a year ago. We decided to spend a year “deciding” whether to keep it or sell it. It fits our family well and the camping and adventure trips we take in Michigan great. Now we are planning a build. The truck is currently bone stock but I’m...

So fun. My father in law has some old pickups I’d like to get off his hands one day. Something like this would be cool. Enjoy the build keep it up.

Hi, very new to both the OB community and overlanding in general. Love to get outside with my family. Camping, SUP, kayaking, cycling, hiking, etc etc. Previously we were in St. Louis Missouri, where it was hard to get many places, but now we are in the beautiful state of Michigan; Grand Rapids...
