Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get any notifications and only just now realized there were comments.
I haven't been there before, so i'm not 100% sure. I will say that I hadn't planned on taking any routes that are super narrow, especially Thursday, but won't know for sure until we get...
Thanks for the heads up. I heard the same from someone else on FB (might have been you actually). I'll look at the MVUM and plan a different route this weekend.
I don't know how I didn't see this until now, because I searched for Ouchita several times. Then again, I've been spelling it without the "a" so there's my problem. Anyway, I just created a Rally Point for mid June if anyone wants to join. I have a route planned, but it's lose and subject to...
This will be an OTG trip traversing and exploring the Ouchita and Ozark National Forests, making our way from Broken Bow, OK, up to the Buffalo National River. We'll actually be starting out on Thursday morning in Longview, TX, heading to the Rally Point in Broken Bow, OK. From there, we will...
Edit: Uploaded a doctored up picture.
Short trip to the hill country for a big kayak tournament on Buchanan. Found a good campsite and improvised with the hammocks.

I'd really like to tag along on a trip to big bend here pretty soon. The last weekend in October just opened wide up for me. Anything planned around the 28th?

Thanks man. I saw "leaving Friday" and thought it was this weekend. We're going to try and find somewhere to camp at Yosemite tomorrow night, but if we can't get set up there are plenty of public spots I found in the forests just north of there.

Mind if I ask about route and where y'all are headed? My brothers and I were hoping to find somewhere to hang a hammock Saturday night within 3-4 hours of San Fran.

My little brother is stationed at Travis AFB just outside of San Fran and my other brother (not Darrell) and I are flying out of Dallas tomorrow (Friday) to go visit for a couple days before he is sent to Dubai for a year. We had to change plans at the last minute and now we are thinking of just...
I personally have a thing for the fast back hard top, but those are pricey. I'll never get one because it loses cargo space and is pricey, but they do look good.

Looks like the hard rock also upgraded to the tube sliders. Barricade makes some that look pretty similar to what I've got. https://www.extremeterrain.com/barricade-enhanced-rubi-rail-jk-j100746.html
You might also check out rubitrux. They have a lot of oem takeoff parts: hoods, doors, tops...
I'm surprised you didn't have the Maximus 3 steel bumpers (at least doesn't look that way). That was one reason I liked the rubi, in addition to the heavier axles, electronic axle lock, and electronic sway bar disconnect.
My sliders offered some side protection as well. I've got the hard rock...
I was searching the inter webs last night for fender mount Jerry cans. Seems like a really logical place to me, and pretty much everyone replaces their fenders anyway. I may just have to fab my own. The metalcloak would make a good base, but who wants to spend that on a fender only to weld on...
Depends on where you want to go, and how you want to get there lol. I pulled a 36 foot fifth wheel all over the place, and without the trailer it was capable of getting to a lot of places. Capable of not getting to a lot of places too I found out.

I'm down your way pretty often. At least around Houston/Galveston area. I'll try to look you up next time. Good looking ford. I just traded my 7.3 with 350,000 mikes for a new-ish rubicon.

I prefer hammock to tent. It's never been an issue around here because I have always had plenty of trees to choose from. But just like OP said, it doesn't do any good for solo trips where there aren't trees.
I don't like the roof top idea because 1: my rack probably won't have much room and 2...
