We just did the Mojave Rd this past weekend and we had no issues at Soda Lake. It is completely passable. As mentioned in a previous post, the water crossing at Afton was the deepest I have ever seen it. I had some serious pucker going on when crossing it. Here is a video my buddy took when I...
I dont suppose you could provide an update on the condition of the trail after you run it? With all the rain we have had, it will be interesting to know is Soda lake will be passable. I plan on running the Mojave in early April so this information would be a big help.
Thanks
I have done the Mojave on New Years weekend and the weather was perfect IMO. Camped at Mid Hills campground on New Year's Eve and woke in the morning to 3 inches of snow, which melted as soon as the sun came out.
You wont have any issues at the water crossing. I just went through it a few weeks ago and it was only about 25 inches deep. Unless we get a large amount of rain between now and when you are going, which is highly unlikely, there will be no issues. This was in late October:
If its 30" deep, then its gonna be fun. Just make sure that you open the hood and spray down your idler pulleys when you get home. That gritty water tears the bearings up.
Put it in 4 hi, and push through. Keep a constant speed through the water and you will be fine.
#2- Stop worrying.
I highly doubt is will be 30" deep considering there hasnt been any rain in the area in over 6 months. I have been through it twice when it was at its fullest and will be going through it again this Sunday. If it is anywhere close to 30" deep, I will be very surprised.
Yes they do. This is my newest member of the family. I finally got to shoot it the other day. My new .50 cal muzzleloader. There were some people shooting an AR and an AK down the range from me and when I let a round off on this baby, they turned and said "Goddamn! That thing is loud" LOL It...
It works great for what it is. More than enough for a quick shower. My only problem was hanging it up high enough. Im over 6 ft so I had to crouch quite a bit when it was hanging off my roof rack. The pressure is good enough for me.
If its anymore than a couple of days, I pack my solar shower and a small bar of soap. I hang it from my high-lift jack which is mounted to the roof rack on my FJ. After 2+ days without a shower, it doesnt matter if the water is cold, hot, warm, whatever. Just getting a simple camp shower is amazing.
