Mine is a 2012 year model. Reckon it’s up to country vehicle standards/specs. Here in SA it’s not unheard of to remove the catalytic converters altogether after a couple years.
My FJ definitely does not have one of those, and never had one either. Keep in mind this is a South African spec one. Had it from new although I now have a second battery there now.
Each to their own I guess. Whatever you currently own or just bought is probably what works best for you. I know pensioners that swear by RTT's and then people younger than me swear by ground tents. In Africa, and I guess most of the world, depending on the trip and destination, that would sway...

The bumpers are manufactured by a guy in Cape Town. Maniac 4x4 (hope I'm not overstepping forum TOS by mentioning manufacturers names). I'll post more pics of my rig as soon as I can.
