This route looks great - somehow didn't see this before, and was pretty sure I'd scoured all your postings here! What's the portion of the route that's "offroad" (accepting that in Central PA this mostly means well-groomed forest roads), and how many nights do you usually plan for with this route?
Not sure how many of you in Central PA have got the membership and are on the app, but I've been slowly adding resources to the crowd-sourced map from my trip. Looks like some stuff has been added for Bald Eagle, but really nothing for Rothrock. I appreciate the crowd-sourced stuff for planning...
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but didn't see it answered in the tutorial.
Is there a way to edit your "initial rating"? For example, while adding a recent resource I accidentally clicked 3 when I meant to click 5, and I can't find a way to edit the rating.
Should've added per the OP: wasn't able to check out the Roth Rock to Bald Eagle connection as I determined the VW wasn't up for the Bald Eagle trails I had wanted to try. (At least not with a short attention span 1.5 yr old on board!).
Spent this past weekend in Roth Rock disperse camping at site #4. Great views with the leaves changing colors and can't wait to get back and explore more.
Had to take the VW Tiguan since I had a transmission issue pop up with the Trooper. Space was a bit tight, but no issues on Wampler, the...
I'm new to the app and just trying out the planning for the first time. Whenever I add a waypoint, after I click quick save or try and add details per the prompt, the app crashes. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm getting ready for the shakedown excursion with my family (me, partner, 1.5 yr old) in our 2002 Trooper in a couple weeks. The Trooper doesn't have the newer style anchors for a car seat/booster base, and I figured I could use the belt in method without the base that our car seat instructions...
In Harrisburg, and also just getting started. Have gleaned a lot from @DevilDodge too, good connection! We'll be taking our Trooper out for the first time in a couple weeks to Roth Rock. If you don't have Purple Lizard maps, that would be first on my list of resources to pick up for planning...
Here are the links: North East Backcountry Discovery Route (NEBDR) Map & Information for the Northeast route. See this thread https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/new-england-fall-overland-trip.44541/ for some OB discussion on the route, which is important since it's not necessarily...
You might check out the Trans-NH route Trans New Hampshire Expedition - Self Guided - ExploringNH
There are also some documented routes that pick up in South Central NY and run North, will try and find the links to them.
Thanks for the info!
Hoping to camp at site #3 or #4. Looks like a good deal of "high clearance" trails around there based on Purple Lizard map, but most appear to be gated off
This will be the shakedown trip for my Trooper, and first camping trip with the 1.5 yr old. Going to attempt to...
Appreciate this thread, thanks for sharing! Starting to plan my own trip to Rothrock. Have Purple Lizard maps ordered.
Can you share the e-mail address for reserving camp sites in Rothrock?
