Agreed, I have been Camping/Overlanding longer than most of these people have been alive. I don’t have a tricked out rig but I do have 69+ years of experience and observation. My family camped at Big Bend, CA with me from the time I was born. All 4 generations. No rigs. Just tents and a fire pit.
A friend of mine was just in a black ice rollover accident. Thank God she survived. The 1999 4Runner not so much. The insurance company is trying to total her vehicle and give her $5000. Any thoughts on the value of that rig. She paid $20,000 about 1 1/2 years ago.

I have an 1800 watt solar generator but was considering a backup battery system as well. Also have 100 watt solar panels for mounting. The biggest drawback I see is weight. The solar generator weighs about 50 lbs. Batteries are heavy too.
