Went out to Corral Canyon (east of San Diego) to take my daughter off-roading for the first time. Got on a much more technical trail than intended so she really got to experience the fun. (No pictures of that part) Got some new pinstripes and a good dent in the skid plate. Oops.
Replaced the driveshaft. Apparently the previous owner(s) did not regularly lube it and the seal had blown so I was getting the dreaded thunk almost every time I came to a stop. It was very easy to replace at least.
Next up, another maintenance item: 5th Generation calipers and...
Santiago is probably the closest. Just take the 74 east and you're there.
Big Bear is awesome, did Holcomb and a few offshoots last weekend. Good times. That said, I don't know how big of a group I would want to take.
Once it cools down, Borrego is great for bigger groups and there's tons...
They are not vehicle specific. They're a stretch fit, and there are different sizes available. I just measured my windows and found the closest fit. These are the ones that fit my 4th Gen 4Runner: LINK
I originally had my ARB 2000 mounted the same way and had no problems, even with miles of washboards. Of course, now I have FourTreks mounts . . .
I bought these stretchy screens on Amazon (it's not pulled all the way down in this picture) and they worked great! Able to have a nice breeze...
I'm glad to see this thread (and the ones Steve pointed out) as I was wondering about this very issue last weekend. In the past I've just thrown everything in the back of the 4Runner, but recognize that's not the safest thing to do. I also now have a roof rack and will carry stuff up there...
Got some new-to-me wheels and tires from another OB member. TRD Pro wheels and Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 265/70/17. Haven't tested them off-road yet, but I'm very impressed how well they do around town and how quiet they are on the freeway for such an aggressive tire. Next purchase . . ...
Another San Diego silver 4th Gen. It's looking great!! I'm about 6 months behind you in building mine up, I'll probably start a build thread this weekend. A GR rear bumper like yours is my next big project. I really like his work.
