I’m so old I remember when “overlanding “ was just grabbing a tent and a sleeping bag a case of beer and a package of hotdogs and going in the woods for a few days .
Pulled my Rig out and getting it ready for our trip May 24th-28th in the Ozarks. Installing a 200-watt solar panel today, on top of my rooftop tent. It's been 2 months since I have been out. I'm really looking forward to getting back on the trails
Yes, you can mount the James Baroud Evasion RTT on the Eezi-Awn K9 Rack with the tent positioned above the slats for clearance, especially for the L-shaped awning mount brackets. Many users have successfully done this by adjusting the mounting height of the RTT to ensure the awning brackets...
...way. Nothing too notable to say, truck worked fine, met them up near Reddish Knob and we camped out a few thousand ft. up on a chilly night (30 degrees or so). There was a lot of cooking, some nice rigs, and I just tent-camped. So just a quick photo dump here no real stories worth telling lol...
...This was a well optioned trailer from the dealer. It has an adjustable height rack that carries a James Baroud Grand Raid XXL Evo rooftop tent. The tent pops straight up to maximize space and decrease set up and take down time. It has a 3-inch high-density foam mattress (slightly larger...
Nashville, TN - Off road trailer with roof top tent, internal and external lighting, battery, and water tank - think it holds 10 or 12 gallons. Battery has just been replaced and is charged by your vehicle while driving. Comes with a propane tank and a spare tire for the trailer which has never...
...and once a forced evacuation, have made me appreciate clean air. I even had to wash my down sleeping bag (what a chore!) and soak my backpacking tent in vinegar/water to remove the stench.
The portable propane pits are really nice. I love being able to just turn it off and go to bed. They’re...
...not start a wildfire.
My sleeping bag is my nice $600 backpacking bag. I do not crawl into it dirty, or wreaking of campfire. I don't want my tent or truck interior permeated with campfire either. Or my dog!
Packing for fires requires a lot of footprint for just one night of firewood...
I'm on my second T Stuff hardshell. They sent me a new one when I showed them where the shell was developing fissures. Second one I have kept waxed per recommendations and clear coat is still starting to peel. Guess I could put some kind of vinyl wrap on it but will probably look for a better...

As a kid we had to hike to campsites. Usually at least a few hours to get there from trailhead. You ate what you carry in your backpack. Individual boxes of cereal, powered milk, canned foods, MREs, etc. There was a mountain steam at my favorite that was clean we could use as a water source.
Love this! Back then, adventure was simple—no fancy gear, just grit. I remember camping with a $20 tent and hitchhiking to trails. Today, we’re sold ‘must-have’ gear, but the spirit’s the same. Let’s rediscover low-cost, high-reward trips. Share your throwback adventures!
...a 16”
tall stool to help climb in and out of the bed. Stepping down and the thing slid out from under me. I landed hard on the concrete. Don’t think anything is broke. But I know it happened.so tomorrow morning we shall see how I feel. But she is packed up, dead body style tent across the...
...about this set up is the fact that the crossbars attach directly to the rollbars and gives the RTT a very solid platform (plus the weight of the tent distributes evenly across the body of the vehicle). They also have a "click-in" tent bracket option which offers a quick interlocking/ release...
Going into debt for overlanding? ::laughs in old beater vehicle::
Ganbaru, a 1999 Honda CR-V I bought for $1800CAD, and Rumble, a 2006 Dodge Dakota 4x4 that cost me $4200CAD. Both took me on amazing adventures, and Rumble is waiting for his next run. Virtually every overland accessory on both...
