Hi Glen and Alicia, pretty new to this part of the OB site so not sure how it all works. Sent you a message yesterday on an upcoming Anza Borrego trip with a couple of others not sure if it went through. If interested let me know. Mike (Jeep It Simple).

Thinking of coming out to Anza Borrego in a week or so, any interest in doing some trails?

Who is a Vet, Active or First Responder?

Completely agree, my brother-in-law did not complete his tour in Vietnam. I was one of about 5 Recruit Applicants in my boot class. Everyone else had been drafted. Our DI’s were always quick to remind us “you’re here because you want to be”.

Who is a Vet, Active or First Responder?

Thank you Lyle, was great meeting you as well. Met a lot of really nice people, had fun, and got to know the Preserve a little better.

Who is a Vet, Active or First Responder?

US Army, five years 71 - 76. Was 18 years old, running a printing press on the night shift. Knew I did not want to do that for the rest of my life, best advice my Dad gave me - join the Military it will change your life. Next day walked into the Army Recruiters office and signed up. My Dad...

Hey Kit, how was the drive back to Palm Desert? Did your RTT stay on with the zip ties?

US West Stop over at Mt. Shasta for dispersed camping on way to PNW Overland Expo

As my nickname "Jeep it Simple" implies, I would recommend starting simple and go from there as you learn what you need / like / works for you. Myself I have a JKU. Most times I sleep in my JKU it there is room otherwise a simple ground tent. Here would be my staring point recommendations...

Gone next week to DV, doing the OB Death Valley trip otherwise would have been invested in Anza before it gets too hot. Have fun.

Need to order a radio for this trip, and future ones. I read the Baofeng UV5R is a good choice for the occasional user? Looking for feedback, thank you.

US West Death Valley Adventure Route

I think anon_overland make a valid point, as I recall from my last DV Back Country permit i needed to file, groups are limited to 12 people / 4 vehicles. We could split into two groups, spaced 30 minutes apart if that helps to conform to the permit requirements. Here is a link to the DV Back...

Retired or Semi Retired OB's - 818 - 805 Area Codes - Bored & Want To Get Out

Right now I am confined to the barracks so-to-speak. My daughter in NoCal is due in late-March with a moderate-risk pregnancy. Wife has reminded me I do not want to be 5 hours away and out of cell contact in case something happens. I did RSVP for the Death Valley trip April 18th - 22nd or...

US West Death Valley Adventure Route

Hi Joe, just RSVP'd for the trip looking forward to it. I have done two other Death Valley trips, last one going from Ballarat Ghost town up through Wildrose Canyon to the charcoal kilns. Camped at Mohagany Campground then took the northern route over to Eureka Dunes, then out to through Big...

Retired or Semi Retired OB's - 818 - 805 Area Codes - Bored & Want To Get Out

I that thought about this for a while and decided to put it out there to see if there is any interest. I retired in late-2018 and do some off road trips usually mid-week, that's when there are less crowds and one of the benefits of being retired. But always solo, seems everyone I know has to...
