Dispersed Camping- Leaving/Returning to your camp

Funny, but I would just think you're a dirty camper who doesnt care about the woods

    Overlanding for Practicality

I make money to spend how I see fit. My partner has her own. We split certain things, and the rest is none of her concern, nor are her purchases mine. I realize most couples dont work this way, but I am not sure why not.

Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else. We will not further define "overlanding".

old Grubby there doesn't like my views. its ok. I paid before I read these forums. I thought paying was gonna get me a cool app and access to locations etc. I paid to support something that was putting out a service. I never paid to be part of a cool crowd. Maybe you did?

Hi Everyone! New advice for a Newbie with a Subie?

Ouch, youre right. My brother is running a rhino rack on his 2020 outback on factory rails, if you like that flat top look.

    Let's Talk Cast Iron

I do what my grandmother taught me. Bacon grease in the oven at 400 (pan upside down so excess drips out). Do that a few times, then move on to cooking bacon and then on to other things. I do not use vegetable, avocado, grapeseed or any of the oils they never had back in the old days. The more...

Hi Everyone! New advice for a Newbie with a Subie?

I will make a reccomendation: don't waste too much on a high end roof rack for a RTT. Go get craigslist Yakima Roundbars for 1/10th of the cost. You cant see them under the tent, and steel round bars are a lot stronger than the aluminum ones. The length of the bar is going to be something you...

Why do people say “out west?”

We like to generalize, categorize and lump everyone together. Its easier to bemoan someone if they are part of a larger whole- people generally dont like personal attacks.

Securing your kitchen dishes during travel

Me too. I am not like a lot of other people here. I am a minimalist at every point I can be. I regularly carry only one 8" Cast Iron pan, one 10x6 grill grate and one Ti 1 qt pot. If more people are coming to eat, they better bring their own pot.

Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton trip planning

I recommend going into the Flathead Nat'l Forest around Hungry Horse resevoir. There are some great camps in there. That early however, many of the gates will still be closed up into the mountain.

I have a Viair 88p. It's quite small and works fast enough for me.

Members with information/experience/interest in Pennsylvania State Forests for off pavement travel/dispersed camping

Reminds me of a day back when I was 17. I took my 81 Toy down some sketchy, 1-2" of snow covered powerlines on a beautiful March afternoon. By the time we were coming back up the sun had moved and the snow iced over. We tried winching up a steep slope for hours. No Go. I left the truck at 9pm...
