    Do you remember when?

In high school, I remember many a weekend camping in the Chautauqua Gorge near Lake Erie. Hiking Mount Marcy was the gold standard for this country boy! As I think back, those were the years I got lost trying to find myself. Maybe that’s why I did well in the military? Always in the woods, at...

    Do you remember when?

I remember camping in Canada when I was 7 and getting sprayed by a skunk. Then the baptism with tomato juice ensued! Growing up on a dairy farm we always slept outside and called it camping. Then I traded all that for a shelter half and here we are.

    Do you remember when?

For some, it happened years ago, for others, yesterday. No matter the time or effort, we all started somewhere on a journey towards the “Spirit of the Wild!” Thank you Uncle Ted for reminding us of our roots! Do you remember what it was like starting out on your journey? These are the campfire...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Finally got around to putting the original hook points on. Sure didn't have faith in the poorly welded points that were on the bumper. So now I have a secure spot to grab onto!

    Portable A/C unit

Appreciate the comments! I guess I might have to be the test dummy for this unit! The other options are too costly for my blood. Since power was a topic, I am definitely not concerned with power consumption. My system design is stout! I also would not run it constantly either so there’s that...

    Backcountry Internet Gear/Providers

Recently completed a 13 day North GA/NC/SC route and Starlink worked like a charm! Even with obstructions, I was able to send pics and use Wi-Fi calling. Yes it took a little longer to send but concept works! Not once did I loose comms.

    F350 CCSB

I totally agree about just using “manual.” This will be the only time I go thru this. If it fails again, so be it. I still have confidence in my truck, and I bought it used…so this time I will have patience with it.

    The Perfect Camp Stove

The only draw back of the griddle is it’s non stick not cast iron. So all my metal tools of the trade are pointless…

More good news came the other day!! Not only are the knuckle seals bad, so is the driver outer shaft. We also received 2 new seals from ford and one was bad!!! At least I will have spares if I break on the trail! I love all this good news! I hate paying Ford dealer prices but I’m at the mercy...

    F350 CCSB

From the start, I have always said that I am not a trained mechanic. But I played one on tv once. Anyways, my 4wd is vacuum actuated at the hubs. When I rebuilt the axle, everything was replaced. When I went on my test ride to north FL, I got stuck in the sand. That’s when I knew something was...

    GAT & SCAR 2025

What a trip! Amazing peace and tranquillity! The rain held off most days in the beginning and only 1 rainy night! It was absolutely perfect weather! The truck performed admirably and only a few things wiggled loose! After the GA Traverse, the SCAR was a letdown. But my adventure spirit pushed...
