Thanks Brien, great pics! can't wait to make this drive. We've been practicing our Spanish alot since we travel to central Mexico almost every year - for the Monarch butterfly migration (in the State of Michoacan) but still need to make sure I can order a beer and find a bathroom! LOL
Brien, OUTSTANDING feedback. Just what I was looking for. BTW, I was thinking 4-5 out of 10... re: difficulty rating.
I'm typically comfortable on 5-6 (out of 10), if pressed, won't hesitate (much) to go up in difficulty if a line looks doable for my rig. I've got 10" clearance for rear...
Kato, my wife and I are also planning to be on the Mojave Rd in late December 2017. Our route, however, is West to East and our start date is December 27 thru... well... we're not certain about our end date since we like to explore and play. In other words we typically stay very flexible...
Keith, Trecia and I are planning to leave the "meet up" and run over to the Cohutta Wilderness section of the GA Traverse (and up into TN) for a few days of camping and exploring. We've been up and down Tray Mountain a couple of times in the last 30 days or so, hence its not on our list to go...
thanks Chadlyb... haven't got WA on the planning calendar but my wife and I do want to visit the Great Northwest to experience the giant Redwood, and the Oregon/Washington coasts. May even spend some time in the deserts out east of you.
Hi folks, I'm not from AZ but from Georgia. Wife's brother lives in Tucson where we've visited a couple of time before (always summer). So looking for some input/suggestions from you as locals. We're driving into Tucson probably arriving on 12/8 pitching the RTT on Bro's property for a couple...
What is that saying? "Speed kills"?? I guess in the Chevy driver's life it was a KIA for the truck, so sad
Thanks for the input on the rig and risks we're going to undertake. Can't wait!
Finally joined after lurking for quite a while;
Go by middle name "Eric" with friends, others call me Jim! It's a southern thing :unamused:
Rig: 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4 with Yakima RTT on Yakima bed rail set-up,
Experience: Not a novice but not an Expert... so guess I'm sorta "dangerous"...
Thanks armymgdude: I would never have expected that amount of snow... a dusting, sure but a 3 foot pack, well, I'd be trying to turn around and get back to some place more predictable.
I have a follow up question, if you folks will indulge me, is our plan of going into the valley following...
Steven: thanks for asking the questions about DV. I'm also planning a trip there with my wife for 2-4 nights in early January 2018. But before that I just have to make a run across the Mojave Rd. from West to East in the days before heading to DV. Hoping that late December early January is a...
