I kept waiting for it to drop. Finally, at the end of March I bit the bullet and ponied up the 70 bucks. Don’t know when they are going to actually drop the price, unless they did it the day after I bought mine. ;-)
We have been busy getting some trail time under our belt. After taking our class we headed to southern WV to do a trail ride with Off-Road Consultants out of PA. It was a 3 day weekend at Burning Rock off road park. What an awesome experience; scary, steep, slippery, narrow you name it. The...
Hey Darunner, (this is Wayne, not Michele)
We’re back up in SC right now, but planning on heading back down there next week. We’ll be back and forth for a while, but would love to get together. Will send you an IM when we’re heading back down.
Oh yeah, may take you up on the offer of the good...
It’s hard to capture the true nature of the trails from inside the car. But these trails if you just look at them you would think “no way can we drive over that”. But yes we can and did so eye opening and so fun at 6mph hehe. This was from class this weekend, good times.
We just spent the 3 day weekend at an Off-Road skills and Recovery class held in Uwharrie, NC (sounds like URE), presented by Overland Experts. Wow a great class. We learned off-road driving techniques and how our Lexus specifically is setup for off-roading, including second start, 4high 4low...
Hello fellow wheelers. We are still kitting out our Lexus for the trip. We added the rock sliders, a little bit of new armor skid plates and the ”mini” front bumper for recovery points plus it houses our Rough Country winch. We had to go south to Lake Mary Fl to find warm weather to work on...
Interesting thing there Darunner, my wife’s Gaia does that too, but when I try it, my Gaia just drops a pin. I have checked all my settings but can’t seem to figure that one out. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I guess I can try deleting and reinstalling Gaia.
Awesome pics, Colorado landscape is quite interesting. The route looks yeah a bit rocky but that’s the fun part picking a passable line through. Thanks for sharing I’m glad we have some local knowledgable folks along for the ride.
Good to know...we have not been at higher elevation with our LexOR yet, either off-road or on-pavement. So I am not sure how she will perform or if there is any difference. From your experience it sounds like we may see some degradation in power. We will keep it in mind and drive accordingly...
Duly noted, stay hydrated at elevation to avoid the headaches. Thanks, trying to plan ahead for the various environments we will encounter along the way. And knowing it’s the Rockies vs the Appalachians, we will prepare accordingly.
We have not ordered the TAT maps yet, so I have not...
I was thinking about a related question to the “high altitude” trails in Colorado, as well as just out West portion in general. As an East Coaster we have not been in high elevation, above 5,000 feet for years. So I was bit concerned if there are any issues with a) the vehicles performance...
Now those are TIRES. You gotta use all caps when mentioning 37s. I feel like a midget lost in the land of the giant trucks. Welcome and Love the tires. SE Pa we just finished up working in Lansdale area, your neck of woods perhaps.
You guys have been busy lots of good suggestions for gear ideas to take and to leave at home.
Welcome to the new travelers; we are also overlander newbies husband/wife team.
I am currently researching off road driving classes to take to get started in the right direction. I know there is...
And gotta add USF Bulls to the list as well since I went to grad school there myself. We are big college football fans so each year the “war on I4” is always fun time.
Hehe! Did someone say Goooo UCF Knights...guess who’s a Florida boy too, my “ favorite husband“ Wayne.
Oh and our LexOR as we call her getting the Kanati AT Trail Hogs dirty
Ah yes I have caught a few of his YouTube videos with his red 4Runner I believe. I will look up the SCAR, curious to see where in SC it goes, upstate or low country or etc.
Yes sir. We are planning on doing the entire trip as far as the TAT will take us. We have a few states that we have not yet visited, all of them out West. This gives us the opportunity to check them out while having an adventure getting there. I’m sure we will have some questions regarding...
