I camped at the races this past weekend. I started going to Mosport in Ontario 55 years ago and no doubt I will again next year. A lot of the cars in the vintage class were new back then!
I almost finished painting my LJ today. I hoped to take it camping next weekend, but I don't think that will happen. The trailer will go with my XJ and work will continue on the LJ when I get back.
I have a 2004 Jeep TJ Unlimited which, in Canada, is technically not a Wrangler. At the time GMC owned the name Wrangler and used it on one of its pickup trucks. This goes back to the YJ days. The first Canadian Jeep Wrangler is the 2007 JK and they've all been called that since then. I...
"No pressure" ... but looking forward to more pics! I would have liked to go but I've spent 2 of the last 4 weeks at Algonquin Park and Bon Echo and simply need to get some things done (paint) on my LJ so I can get it back on the road. I've driven right by there a LOT of times but have never...
I'm a bit closer to finishing the paint on my '04 LJ. The front is done and the rear is close behind. I have some metal work to do and then paint. I have a lot of other things to do but it will be back on the road soon. It's all fun!
Except for 5-7 yrs. I've owned XJs (3) since the first one I bought a new 4 dr. in 1990. I'm "old" and don't see anything changing. Mine above is a 1989 2 dr. Limited (hard to come by). I'm not sure if it qualifies for vintage camping but it probably will when I'm done with it. I'll be...
I agree. Generally speaking, I think a 4 dr. XJ is better for overlanding/camping. Mine is a 2 dr. and I wasn't sure about that first. The interior dimensions are the same for 2 & 4 drs. but the 4 drs. are much better for accessing "stuff". For getting in and out though the 2 drs. with...
I tented for years and was quite happy doing that, basically on an air mattress or cot. If I want to take minimal "stuff" I'm fine with sleeping in the back of my Cherokee XJ on a sleep pad. If I want to take more stuff, I like my RTT on an off road trailer I built. With an interior space...
That's a good idea. No AC needed up here and I think the port holes are about 12" dia. so you can haul in the whoppers in the winter and take a leak without missing in the summer!
I've been following your cargo trailer build and really like the way you're headed. Nice design and great quality work! My only suggestion would be to put a couple of plastic port holes in the floor for ice fishing. That's what some guys up here do ... although probably not a big...
With 7' head room at the rear end, I could put my wife on my shoulders and we could do do all kinds of "bad ass" crazy things in there! If only we were younger. Changing inside was the main thing for her and this works really well. What we bought it for though was to haul...
We're well into the 4th year of using our Forest River based trailer. If anything, it's a lot wimpier than the NoBo and similar trailers because it's a pop up. I call it a "tear pop". Internally the side to side bulk head structure goes back to the foot of the bed and then is taken over by...
I bought a pair of 10' Ascend kayaks at Bass Pro and have been happy with them. They are both sit in kayaks. I wish I'd bought one sit in for my wife and a sit on for me as I think it would be better for fishing. They're a bit heavy at 55 lbs. each but still easy to lug around. One thing...
