Who here is also exploring in a small Jeep? Cherokee, Compass, Renegade? Post photos, lets see them.

Here's my 1989 XJ. It's a 2 dr. Limited with all of the gold trim removed and the white bumpers and grill replaced.

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

Thanks! That's good to know. I hadn't given the exhaust enough thought. I would use one in a few different ways ... RTT, tear drop and a Jeep and am trying to make it versatile. I'm sure there's a solution ... if I Get Smart about it.

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

My apologies if this has already been asked but is the "thump thump thump" sound that I assume is from the fuel pump, audible when you're inside your tent or RTT? Is it annoying?

    Member Rides

All of my travels this year have been in my 89 XJ, usually with one of two trailers in tow. A few weeks ago, I finished doing the body and paint on my 04 LJ. It will be my winter transportation and if it survives that (it should!) it will be taking a bit of the load off of the XJ next year...

    5lbs. Propane Storage

I carry propane tanks on my Jeep LJ & XJ and on 2 trailers. With the exception of the Adventure Trail Gear bag that I use on my XJ (excellent product!) I fabricated various mounts as needed. Some of the build pieces that I found useful were ... 8" welding tank straps, 4" steel drive plates...

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

I'm kind of stuck on whether to buy the components, or a kit, and going this route vs. buying one of the many all in one ready to go versions. The latter are inexpensive enough that you could probably buy one and "part it out" as the basis for a Pelican style case build. The only advantages I...

The not so Aluminum Square Drop Trailer Project

Here's a link for something I have considered for interior walls. It would work for the exterior too. At 1/8" thick it would obviously need a backer of some sort (plywood or ...?). It's HDPE Puck Board. If it can take a puck it should be able to handle me tossing and turning in my...

The not so Aluminum Square Drop Trailer Project

Here is their Facebook page or whatever it's called (I'm terrible with FB ... and don't realy care). I'm pretty sure they have a forum but I just can't find it. Patrick Remington is the guy behind it all. He has some very good YouTube videos. DIY Roof Top Tent Community | Facebook

The not so Aluminum Square Drop Trailer Project

When my Mother passed away, I received all of her sewing equipment and supplies. There's a lot of it but it's not heavy duty. I've planned to teach myself how to sew for each of the last 5 winters. Maybe this will be the one! I've been on a forum that's dedicated to DIY RTT building. A...

The not so Aluminum Square Drop Trailer Project

Pop ups are nice but it introduces a number of issues both from a build point of view (I can't sew! :disrelieved: ... yet) and what you can, or can't, put on the roof when completed. We have a "store bought" pop up tear drop. It's not a square back but more similar to a traditional slope...

Are you planning to build it with a pop up roof?

The not so Aluminum Square Drop Trailer Project

I built an expedition trailer with a 3,500 lb. axle and 2,000 lb. leaf springs without shocks and it works well. I've started a teardrop build and am going with the same combination, although I might add shocks. I have C rated Goodyear Duratracs and will go with the same on the new build...

    Calling all Wrangler 2 door

My 04 TJ Unlimited (LJ) that I posted in #16 above now looks like this. I just finished painting it and got it on the road this past weekend. I have a lot to do to it yet, but it should be at least "rolling" for most of that work.

    Rig Photos

Thanks. It was a backyard, outdoor job that took a bit longer than I would have liked but I'm happy with the results. I built a trailer and painted it to match. Looking forward to my first trip with them together.

I've been driving my 1989 XJ on each of my trips since May and it hasn't missed a beat. Yesterday I drove my 2004 LJ for the first time since I finished the body and paint. I have a lot to do to it yet but at least it's back on the road. Time to give my XJ a rest!

    Suspension options

One of my criteria was to be able to fit an ATV in the bed, obviously with the RTT off and 4'x6' is about right for most models. A bit longer would have been fine. I also use mine as a utility trailer, usually with the RTT on but with it off for larger items. It's great for hauling home...

    Suspension options

@Red_Leaf_Overland - Are you looking to build a trailer that is similar to what your friend has? I have a 4'x6' trailer and it has plenty of room for my needs. It has a 3,500 lb. straight axle and 2,000 lb. springs and it's been good in the places I have gone with it. It would probably be...

    Windshield Pics...

I took these this past weekend. Uh oh ... on the way back to get to where I came from, I know I took one of these trails to where I went.
