    Overland Trailer build

Well, I found a good deal on a basic overland trailer from a fabrication guy in Calgary, and decided to take the leap. It was his demo model, and as his new generation of trailers is ready for release he was clearing this one out. It is an aluminum body on a metal frame, so it is very light...

SKYCAMP Kickstarter Campaign just kicked off!

Some friends just got one, got in on the first 1000 buyers, so I will try and sneak a peak next time I am out there. They aren't really overlanders, so I won't be able to get much feedback as far as off-roading

Where did you install your OB emblem?

    Back drivers side, easy visibility.

What are you using for a fridge/freezer.

Whynter 65 Qt with Travel case. modified the DC power connector to a twist lock style. My only complaint is i can't actually close the door in the FJ with the fridge like this, has to turn it 90 degrees to fit everything.

    Whynter 65Qt Fridge

I have the same one, all in all I like it, strongly recommend the insulated cover for it. I ran it for up to 4 days on my stock FJ battery(6years old) for 4 days before it started to struggle(before i got the cover). My only real complaint is the side carrying handles are a bit on the weak side...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Last purchase, the parts to extend rear diff and e-locker breather(10'of fuel line, T-junction, diff junction, and some hose clamps) Next...RTT? maybe. I love the idea of it, just the cost vs a good ground tent is killing me.

    Dash compass

The FJ came with an in dash cluster that has a compass. I use it a lot more than I thought I would. It's not accurate enough to actually nav with, but it is useful for maintaining a general heading. Out here, if the sun is hidden, the praries all kinda look the same. It's nice to have a...

    Wouldn't that refer to Toronto....

    Canada Regions?

I wouldn't tell a Newfie that he's part of the Maritimes... Atlantic Provinces or Atlantic Area would be better

Eating utensils traditional or new age?

Using all metal utensils from my bachelor days, got some cheap enamel metal plates/bowls/cups for truck camping. Trying to stick with the tread lightly principles and minimize the amount of garbage generated from my trips. Pro's - cheap, reusable, minimal risk of breakage Con's - requires...

2013 FJ Mods - Where to start? Recommendations?

Big question, are you planning on an off-road rig or more expedition style? +1 to the mirrors, +1 to the rear diff breather, just did this as well. For the price and simplicity it's a quick improvement. As far as the rear lower control arms, I haven't had any problems with mine, and they have...

Overland advevture PG, BC Canada - June 23

 Already got plans for this summer, hopefully you'll be running next summer as well? Originally from PG, would be good to get back.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Minor maintenance, cleaned the MAF, not very dirty, but wasn't sure if the dealership ever did it. Unspooled the winch and wound it back in, just to make sure everything was good, and got the rest of the parts required to relocate the rear dif breather.

    No Snorkle?

Not sure if it's the same as the FJ, but the air intake should be high in the wheel well. I wouldn't want to go much deeper than he is though.

    Thoughts on bivy sacks?

They aren't canvas, but a lot of my buddies use the snug pack bivy lots in the field with no complaints, or they have a 1 pers tent as well.

Factory tow point or use hitch?

+1 for Tow points, plenty of videos of hitch failures going though windows and nearly killing people.
