So, we joined OB a while back after we discovered OB through IAMJAKE. We love the OB lifestyle and philosophy. "Vehicle dependent adventure" is what we've been dreaming about for seven years. We've got a 2014 Wrangler Rubicon that could be our overland vehicle all buy itself. But we're old...
We're there right now but over on Plomosa Rd. Been boondocking for almost two weeks. Fun area! Lot's of trails too. We did Spanish Cabin. Short and moderate at most but did slide off the road in some soft rock and gravel. 4L and my lockers (probably excessive but what the heck, I paid for...
Not too exciting. That's Desert Creek near Wellington, NV. I think there's seven crossings and several camp spots you have to cross the creek to get to. Love that place!
That's awesome. Our son just bought a 1977 Econoline, school bus yellow with root beer accents, complete with shag carpet everywhere, wood cabinets, bed, sink, ice box and a map of Middle Earth on the cabinet door. He's going to start living in it at the end of the month. He'd love yours!
They've been knocking them down pretty quick. Vegetation is still green so that probably helps. But with the super wet winter, there's plenty of vegetation and when it dries...
Authorities have asked folks not to go shooting, off road or any other activity that might spark a fire. There was a fire near Reno last week that they think was started by target shooters. BBQing is fun though:blush:
I was almost 50, the kids were mostly raised and I had the money to finally get my dream vehicle. I could've picked up my first choice, a 1970 SS Chevelle LS6 454, but not super practical. So, I bought a 2014 JKUR and started bolting stuff on. Not only do I have a really cool vehicle that...
We're headed to Virginia City or Lake Tahoe. I kid you not, it snowed in the mountains (snow level was about 6000 feet) less than two weeks ago. Now it's up around 100 and was 106 last week. Too hot too fast.
Yes, he will. I had a job and truck payment before I knew what I was doing when I was his age. We've told our kids to do this stuff before they get entangled in adulthood and all it's trappings. It's easy to chuck it all when you have nothing to chuck. Not so easy to extricate yourself from...
I don't and that was sort of tongue in cheek. Steel is dangerous if it breaks...period. Synthetic is usually not. They preform the same job and both do it well. Each has it's own set of pros and cons. Knowing that, I'll choose the option that has little to no potential to take my leg or...
My youngest son is about to start traveling in his 1977 Ford Econoline...yes, shag carpet everywhere, dark stain wood cabinets and a map of Middle Earth inlaid on a cabinet door :sunglasses:. He's getting most of his stuff from his grandpa and some from us. Nothing fancy. Just old camping...
That's a great idea! I built a charging station out of a small parts organizer and a power strip with room between the outlets for the wall warts. But the organizer only holds the chargers and assorted other stuff. They are out in the open when charging. I might like yours better...
