I started the bed/drawer system. The top is 25” wide to fit my thermorest which will be strapped down with fastex buckles and webbing. Room for three Jerry cans in the opening by the tailgate, drawers will be built for the other two openings. I made it a bit shy of 1/4” too long as it ended...
I don’t have the F250 anymore but I had a longer piece, I want to say it was 5 or 6 inches long so I could mount other products.
I still us a RAM system in my F150 but a different base.
Here’s the response I received from Packit Gourmet, they not only have great food but their customer service is just top notch.
Hi Cort,
Thank you for reaching out! The Cook-in-Bags are certified to accept boiling water in them, but they are not made to be submerged in boiling water for an...
I used the Aluminium version in my f250 and it held a full-size ipad, phone, and gps just fine. The key is to mount it to an area where the dash isn’t very flexible.
You’ll get a lot of differing opinions here but I prefer a bottle jack and the stock scissor lift(I used i military hummer scissor lift on my Jeep with 37”s. I do own a high lift but I don’t like to use it.
Awesome build!!!! Reminds me of a 1960 FC170 I saw in Grand Marai in the UP. I tracked it down on the web and it was built by a shop called Roam Automtive, they have an overland group up there too.
Keep up the great work!
Absolutely brother! I love your idea and I’m glad you didn’t take it as me crapping on it. I’m going to be using your idea with the cooking bags I listed(I already use them to make my own backpacking meals).
Coming from a guy who had chemo I tend to be on the careful side, there is no way I...
I have a couple alubox 42s and 73s and would like to line them. The trek pack stuff is nice but it seems a bit expensive, do any of you know of any alternatives?
Thanks!
Rebuilt my high lift, test fit some gear and sketched up the design for my bed/underbed storage. Added a second battery for my goal zero yeti 400 which has worked out great as well.
This is a great idea however ziplock bags are not safe to boil or microwave as their melt point is too low. Always use a boil specific bag like these:

I would suggest using USNG instead of Lat/long. USNG is the national standard for Search and Rescue and if ever lost it’s far easier to understand or get the right place when communicating over phone or radio.
USNG Me by Cascode Labs Pty Ltd...
That’s a lot of money to spend just for a hair dryer and coffee maker. Why not just buy rechargeables, they won’t require such a burst of power demand and you can charge them while you drive.
