And with that in mind Michael... Is why most of us on this coast wish to break in down a bit. It is as simple as adding the Crew or Regional feature to the web-based platform, instead of the 'pay-for' app... I've bypassed all this by making a private group and more so by making another group on...
Okay.. we bailed out in Virginia. Not the road was too tough, by most means, the roads are fine. I think only twice did I back away due to it went close to single track and then it seemed short distance. For me it was a 'click' I picked up in the steering and I know there's a 'u' joint in the...
We started the MABDR yesterday running South to North We completed about 75-80% of Day 1 an landed in Mt Roan SP CG. All tar roads today. Here's my day journal.
Day 11
More rain overnight, yet not the heavy downpours we have encountered. Getting used to packing the tarp up wet.. it’s new home...
The way back we'll be checking online for spots. Figure we'll need one as we cross into PA and just before we leave PA. I'm thinking I may jump off MABDR and switch to NEBDR about mid state. Haven't really worked through this part yet. I'd like to return home using 'some' of the NEBDR, thinking...
I wasn't pushing for too deep in being I have no clue what they look like. Just wanted something along the way. Coming back is a different story since I'll be running much of the MABDR. I believe I'll once again being running up through the PA State Forest system. I'm still planning this out and...
We are heading down Skyline/Blue Ridge/Smokie's Parkways then heading north through the NF's back to NH. I figure we'll run the MABDR up as we leave the NF's. Most I read about the MABDR is sections 2 & 8 have the technical spots.
Can anyone elaborate a bit on the run?
Off track went towards the suggestions beyond the original posting and why. Did no imply anything needed deleting. I did say even those posts had validity according to what was said. All was welcomed and received as posters intended.
First I'd like folks to understand that the situation we were in was not Life/Death, just medical attention and a vehicle that wasn't going anywhere without assistance. Hitting the PANIC button and having SAR's come out was not what was needed. I was after a way to communicate to bring...
Here's another.. Black diamond with number in it. No in the legion that I see... Nat Geo again.
I'm thinking it's 'select paved' going by just the road color. Still wondering if 80 is a forest road? Kinda nice if it is!
As we turn north again, I'm researching a route up through the NF's. So, getting off pavement is great! I'm using the MABDR as a quite and trying to work out connecting forest roads.
Not sold on that quite yet. I can justify HAM though. I guess if I was a backcountry hiker Sat's could be justified, yet I have a vehicle and HAM brings more to the table or so I've read.
I do appreciate the input! Learned a bit!
