I have a friend who has a bed rack with his roof top tent mounted on it. It looks cool, but he has no use of his rear view mirror.
I went with a Leer cap that I found on Craigslist for $400 and had it paint matched for $300. Then did a very inexpensive sleeping platform for $100. Added LED...
Has anyone added lighting to their roof top tent? I'm thinking of adding some sort of battery powered LED strip but curious if anyone else has done this. If so, what lights did you go with? I bought a LED strip on Amazon and it's dead on arrival. Post up pics if you have them!
Subscribing to this thread. I'm looking for some meal ideas for traveling. For example, I'll be driving from Pennsylvania to Arizona for Overland Expo West. What are some meals I can kinda make ahead of time (say, marinate in a bag), so that at the end of a long day I can fire up the stove and...
The website where this all started is now creating a "Book of Names" which showcases the many stories and photos of people's Toyotas.

I shared a story and the name I give my Tacoma. But nothing on the website really mentions anything about them mailing the name...
I just tried this. The navigation of that website is not easy. I entered some info, and uploaded a photo of my truck, then it asks if I want a copy of the book. I didn't see anything that mentions a badge. We'll see what happens.
I found the Coleman grill/stove combo locally via Facebook Marketplace for $25. They even included gas and the griddle add-on. Barely used. I hooked everything up and all works great. I consider that an accomplishment.
Thank you for that info @TXpedition! I haven't seen that Coleman stove/grill in my searches. But now I'm looking at it and reading reviews. Seems to be a pretty nice cooking option. I do have the GSI Soloist which is a less robust option than the Bugaboo. One thing that I do not have is a cast...
I'm shopping around for a camp stove that I can use on road trips (such as my upcoming 5000 mile roundtrip to Expo West). I'm not new to camping and I do like to cook over a fire. However I see there are many places with fire bans. I've seen the Skottle at Expo East, it looks pretty awesome. But...
I hope to see it. I mean, I'm driving 2,200 miles... what's another couple hours?
I have an Aunt and Uncle who live in Apache Junction, Arizona. Would be nice to see them too since I'll be out there. Maybe they can get a day pass for Expo.
I'm trying to learn how to best plan a route as well. It's one things to enter a location into Google Maps and start driving. But for my trip to Overland Expo West I'll need to cover around 2,200 miles. My dilemma is determining how many miles can I put in each day, and how do I determine where...
I'll be working the event.
Leaving Friday, May 5th after work. Swinging by the house to pick up the Adventure Pup (Terry), then trying to get a head start and put a few miles on. Goal is to reach western Pennsylvania and find a place to crash Friday night. Hope to arrive in or near Flagstaff...
Just bought a Geo Adventure Gear GT-140 RTT. Waiting for it to ship. Can't wait to do some camping up on the roof. Probably my next purchase will be a camp stove or awning. I currently have the MSR Pocket Rocket stove, but I want something a bit more low profile.
