I used 12v heated blankets for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Plug them in and put them in your sleeping bag. They worked perfect for me and kept me too warm in 28 degree weather.
I really like this idea! Maybe I could use this to mount a couple of solar panels on top to charge the batteries while driving, then pull the cover off and prop it up to keep charging. interesting.

I just finished a very similar project for use with my smittybilt RTT! I have used it on one trip so far. Mostly powered my 12v heated blanket and charged my phone on a 5 day trip. Very pleased.
