This is true. If your rig is paid off and you're really attached to it, anything is possible. Probable? Maybe not. But I wouldn't write off a 4x4 conversion if you're motivated and know some handy people.

That's a really great post to read through. Honestly 4wd is better in many ways but if you already have the rig, I say have fun and go out and learn. Either it will be adequate knowing your limitations or you'll eventually trade for something else. Either way you'll have fun [emoji106]

Oh yeah. Unless you wanna mud bog you'll be in good shape. But some mud can be overcome with speed.

I nearly bought one of those little trucks but decided I needed 4x4. But honestly if I lived in a place without winter I would have given it a shot. Back in the day everything used to be RWD and it was the Willy's and the Scout that changed that. But people made 2wd work fine. I think 2wd is...
Hey any of you Kansas guys go to Tuttle Creek OHV Park? It's a place I'd like to try someday. Where are the Flint Hills?

Haven't done much fun stuff.... Just trying to get through the winter. Need to find some better places to drive. Not much glory in Mall Crawlin...

Good job man! I love XJ's and it looks like yours will be a great project. I hope your Flatland bumper turn out good. I've looked them over many times but I don't have a welder or a place to build it. Keep us posted!

I like the test posted above. Honestly I went through a phase where I though the whole intake thing was a fabulous idea for any vehicle but with my Jeep I'm just going to use standard filters. Probably try to get AC/DELCO from now on. I like the power of my Jeep WJ V8 so I'm not really looking...
I know for me, before I had to use my vehicle for work and carry ladders on the roof, I had my spare mounted on my roof basket and strapped down. I liked the option because it was cheap and the only viable way to carry it. But if I had my way I'd have a tire carrier bumper. The prohibiting...
That's good then. Mine had 2 small cats upstream and then one big one. Not sure why but I still want to cut out the big one. I'm sure I'd gain power back.

Nice! It wasn't terribly difficult. Had to have my wife help me run the jack as I laid underneath and balanced the skid plate. Once I figured out where it needed to be I just put pressure on it with the jack and drilled the holes. Made sure to have a brand new sharp bit. But my cordless Makita...
Sounds cool! Do you have any pictures? I want to do steel wheels with more offset or get some wheel spacers. What style of wheel did you have?

Thank you! They've been so helpful day to day. Way easier to secure my ladders and load/unload. If I can figure out how to bet my spare up there and my high lift when I'm not working I'll be thrilled!

You know I don't know if having the ends open affects the noise. But their square shape and how low they are to the roof creates a "wubwub" noise at highway speed. But with both ladders on it doesn't make any noise. They are strong but the next weak link is the aluminum rails on the Jeep. They...
Wow I need to pay more attention to the recent threads. Great idea! I'm going to do it just to have the option! What diameter of pins did you end up with and did you just drill out the seat hinges?

IRO 3" lift running JK wheels and 32's
Had my spare on top in my Rola but my work dictated I start carrying ladders on top so I made some heavy crossbars and took my rack off.... Hopefully just for the time being.
